Current news you should know

Hi,

I hope that you and your family will check this site often for news on YRE events. It will be updated frequently with calendar items, changes to the published calendar and need to know messages.

SPECIAL EVENTS

As is our tradition, a GIVING TREE is set up in Fellowship Hall now. Besides the lights, except for the paper angels, you provide the decorations. Please bring warm items such as hats, scarves, mittens, and socks to adorn the tree. We thank the Fergen Family for once again providing this tree and for setting it up for us to enjoy.

The paper angels hanging on the tree provide an opportunity for you and your family to share your wealth with a child in foster care in Wake County. Please take an angel, buy the gift, wrap it, securely taping the angel on top and place it under the tree. The warm clothing items also go to these children.

THEME FOR THE YEAR IS EXPLORING WORLD FAITHS

Nursery care will be provided in the Beatrix Potter Room with our trained and loving nannies. This is provided 15 minutes before and after the service. Please remember to pick up your child directly after the service ends. Our nannies deserve a break to get a beverage and mingle with their friends at UUFR. If this will be your first time here, please come early enough to fill out a visitor form, get your picture taken with your child, and make your child feel comfortable.

The two and three year old class meets in the Susan B. Anthony Room. Their lesson is on Hanukkah and they'll be making and eating potato latkes.

  2. to gain a UU understanding of Christmas that "each night a child is born is a holy night."

The third and fourth graders meet in the Clara Barton Room. Their curriculum is Neighboring Faiths. They'll have their Water Ritual using the vessels they have made from clay. They'll also begin a 2 week session on the Moravian Faith.
