I.Q.TEST
TEST I - : You will need-tidbit , empty can , stop watch. Show your dog tidbit let it sniff it. Then put empty can over it, start stop watch. Encourage the dog to get the tidbit. If the dog gets the tidbit in 5 seconds or less it gets a 5. 5 to 15 seconds a 4. 15 to 30 a 3. In 30 seconds it gets a 2. If the dog sniffs it but does not knock it over it gets a 1. If the dog makes no effort it gets a 0.
TEST 2 : You will need- tidbit, towel, stop watch. Let the dog sniff the towel then quickly, but smoothly put the towel over the dogs head and shoulders, start the stop watch. If the dog gets it off in 15 seconds or less it get a 5 . 15 to 30 seconds it gets a 4. 30 to 60 second a 3. 1 to 2 minutes a 2. If the dog does not get it off after 2 minutes it gets a 1.
TEST 3: You
will need-tidbit, towel, stop watch. Let the dog sniff the tidbit for about 5 seconds then
put the towel over the tidbit as the dog watches. Encourage the dog to get the tidbit. If
the dog gets the tidbit in 15 seconds or less it gets a 5. 15 to 30 a 4. 30 to 60 seconds
a 3. 1 to 2 minutes a 2. If the dog tries but gives up a 1. If the dog doesn't even try a
0.
TEST 4:-You
will need- a tidbit with no strong odor, stop watch. Have the dog sit in the middle of the
room, Let it sniff the tidbit, then as it watches you put it in a corner of the room. Lead
the dog out of the room and in a small circle. then lead it back into the center of the
room take the leash of the dog and start the stop watch. If the dog goes straight to the
tidbit it gets a 5. If the dog sniffs around the room and then finds the tidbit it will
get a 4. If the dog reaches and finds it in 45 seconds it will get a 3. If the dog appears
to be looking for the tidbit but does not find it after 45 second it will get a 2. If the
dog makes no effort it will get a 1.
TEST 5: You
will need- the same as test 4. Repeat the process of test 4 except put the tidbit in a
different corner. This time put take the dog out of the room for 5 minutes and take the
dog to the center of the room and slip off the leash. Start the stop watch. If the dog
goes directly to the tidbit a 5. If the dog goes to the corner that the other tidbit was
then goes to the other corner where the tidbit is it gets a 4. If the dog sniffs around
the room and then finds the tidbit a 3. If the dog searches around the room and finds the
tidbit in 45 seconds a 2. If the dog searches around the room but doesn't find the tidbit
in 45 seconds a 1. If the dog makes no effort to find the tidbit it gets a 0.
TEST 6: You
will need-a board , 6 books, and some tidbit. Put the board on 4 of the books 2 on each
side and 1 on each side of the top. First show your dog the tidbit. then let the dog sniff
the tidbit and place it under the board. Start the stop watch. If the dog uses its paw and
manages to get it out in 60 seconds or less a 5. If the dog retrieves it in 1 to 3 minutes
a 4. If the dog uses its nose or if the dog uses its paw but doesn't get it out in less
then three minutes it gets a 3. If the dog doesn't use its paw but does take a couple
tries using its nose a 2. If the dog has made no effort to retrieve the tidbit after 3
minutes a 1.
TEST.-7: You
will need- nothing. Stand about 8 feet away from your dog, in the voice you usually call
him say "refrigerator". If the dog starts to come 3. If the dog does not come
say "movie". If the dog comes 2. If the dog does not come call it. If it then
comes give it a 5. If the dog does not come then call it again. If it comes, give it a 4.
If the dog still does not come 1.
TEST.-8: You
need- a large piece of card bard to high for the dog to jump over, tidbit, a stop watch,
and 2 card board boxes. Cut a slit top to bottom on the piece of card board about 3
inches. (8 centimeters wide) Put the dog on the other side of the barrier, show it the
food through the slit. Encourage your dog to get the tidbit. Start the stop watch. If the
dog goes around the barrier and gets the tidbit in 15 seconds or less it gets a 5. If the
dog gets it in 15 to 30 seconds a 4. In 30 to 60 a 3. If the dog doesn't get the tidbit in
1 minute stop encouraging. If the dog gets it in 1 to 2 minutes a 2. If the dog keeps
trying to get the tidbit through the slot, give it a l. If the dog does not try at all a
0.
