Le Petit Verger (the little orchard) is a traditional Normandy 'Longere', (longhouse). Some of the decorative granite stonework in the house dates from the French Revolution when the local abbey at Savigny le Vieux was destroyed and pillaged, the stone was used to build the house, most notably the fireplace and the stone around doors and windows.
The house is on a quiet country lane in a small hamlet of a few scattered houses. The village of St Brice de Landelles is one kilometer away and has a small church, boulangerie and a bar. Le Petit Verger is 6 kms from St Hilaire du Harcouet which is a small, lively town with good restaurants, bars, shops, supermarkets and a large open market every Wednesday morning where you can buy fresh local produce.
Rural peace and tranquility are assured in typical Normandy countryside of orchards, dairy farms and picturesque villages.
