Anybody remembering Harry Barker (died 1971 aged
65) and his wife May (died 1973 aged 66) please contact their grand-daughter
Helen Hill, daughter of their oldest child, Hazel, who emigrated to New Zealand
in 1953. (Other children were Keith, Arnold, Joan and Beryl). Helen particularly
wishes to find out where Harry and May are buried with a view to visiting their
graves later in the year. Harry and May both worked at the New Mill and Harry
later worked at Ira Ickringill's mill. They lived for a long time at 10 Gordon
St where Hazel grew up and later at 3 Westfield Tce. Harry played cornet in the
Black Dyke Mills Band when Arthur O Pearce was the conductor (does anyone know
when this was?). He also played for the orchestra at the Alhambra theatre.
