He taught school near Middletown (Butler County), Ohio, before moving to the city of Greenville (Darke County), Ohio, in June 1816 where he became a prominent judge and businessman. He married 12 Dec 1816 in Miami County, Ohio to Polly (Mary) THOMPSON (born near Hamilton in Butler County, Ohio), daughter of David THOMPSON who settled in Section 2 of Greenville Township about 1812. McMANUS
James and Nancy [CROWLEY] McMANUS lived in Huntingdon County, Quebec, between (at least) 1830-1865. Sons James and Thomas married sisters Hannah and Mary BEATTY. Daughter Hannah married Thomas JOHNSON. James, Thomas, Hannah and families immigrated to Michigan in the late 1860's. There was another daughter, Rosy, and according to family tradition she married an O'GRADY and immigrated to Ohio. Family tradition also includes a brother, Hugh, who remained in Quebec. Contact K. Burkhard MOSER (1762-1849) and his son Jacob (1790-1883) discovered coal on land Burkhard owned in Rush Township (now Centre County), PA. Stories were made up about an old bachelor, the land was taken by a coal company, and there are many false documents to 'prove' that Burkhard never married or had children. Would love to hear from anyone who may know anything more about this Burkhard. His parents are Burkhard MOSER and Maria Agatha LICHTENWALLNER; his grandparents are Hans Martin MOSER and Margaretha. John O'HARE changed name to John OSBORNE and married Anna SCANLON/SCANLAN in 1857. Bernard PLUNKETT married Rosanne, a relative of John O'HARE before 1852.
