Comments: A few years ago while driving my Humvee around the area north of North Fort Hood, I came upon a small cemetary that had the names of men from the 8th and 10 Texas Infantry. Their deaths occurred around circa 1916. Someone was keeping this little cemetary up but the town it belonged to had vanished. I can't remember the town's name but the cemetary was named after it. The area was all overgrown but in earlier Ft. Hood days (1950s?), the cantonment had probably either been near this cemetary or surrounded it. The name "Pope," Texas just popped into my head. Maybe that was the town name. Anyhow, to find this little cemetary, you go into the overgrown area across the highway (I can't remeber the highway number) from North Fort Hood and drive around. The area is not posted so no one should bother you. I hope you can find that cemetary. I was raised in Texas (El Paso) and know of many friends whose ancestors were Texas Confederates. You have a very good website - it is filled with great information.

Comments: I live in Johnson County, Texas, and am a member of an organization that preserves local history of Confederate Soldiers. Many of our men were members of the 10th Texas Infantry. We have found several burial sites of these men. We are going to have a major Salute and Celebration to honor General Patrick Cleburne. Please look at my webpage for more information. Many of these men served with General Granbury in Cleburnes Division. If you can come and sit up camp with the other re-enactors we would be honored. Please let me know how many as soon as possible. Thanks

Comments: Scott, I have been to this site many times and each time I am amazed at the information you have managed to accumulate and organize. I know you need input from the descendants of these men and hope anyone who has information available will contact you. I have just read the entry in the "Reminiscences" on my great grandfather and think it is great. Maybe some of my "cousins" will see it and get in touch. Keep up the good work!
