Ancestor from this Regiment: Pvt. William B. Judah, Co. H, 10th Texas Infantry
Comments: Outstanding! My Great Grand Dad enlisted in the CW at Ft Herbert, Galveston, Texas.
Marched to Arkansas Post, was captured and sent to Camp Douglas, IL for six months.
After prisoner exchange, he went back to the 10th for the remainder of the war.
He was a male nurse. After the war, he was a stage coach driver.
Anyway, Mr. McKay, thanks for a wonderful web site. It seems to have made the world a smaller
place.

[Ed: Bill, as the 10th Texas Infantry was never issued hardtack (it's a Northern ration);
this regiment's main staple was corn meal, corn bread, and sometimes flour; the meat issued was
salt pork or beef and sometimes ears of corn were issued. for some more detailed
accounts and documentation of food issued to the 10th Texas Infantry, go to the Food Documentation section of this website.
Eventhough hardtack is not relative to this regiment, you can find instructions on how to make it on the 33rd Wisconsin Infantry Website, under the article entitled "Hard cracker prentenders come again no more."]

Comments: I am interested in joining a group which does "living history" work for National & State Parks. I am familar with your group, having been a charter member of the 21st Ohio based in Atlanta. My son [who is only 13 at present] will someday wish to join an authentic/progressive Confederate unit. Hope to maybe come over and fall in with you sometime.

Comments: There has been a lot of hard work put into this.
I hope that many people from around the world
get to view the contents and realize what these men
went through. I know that the 1860's were a long time ago, but
if it were not for these men who's to say that you
or I would be here today if it weren't for men like
them willing to defend their country. Well done to
whomever did the page your hard work is worth it
every bit of it. I feel priveledged to have been
allowed a chance to view it. Thank you!
