CURRENT FEATURE (A new photo uploaded here as of 1/24/2005)

Peter Cook "Think Spring Pictures," January 2005 - Peter's 1958 Bug tucked away for the winter season"Think Spring Pictures" - by Peter Cook from Massachusetts

Many members of the Common Gear (Yahoo) Discussion Group have been comiserating lately about the harsh winter weather that's been visiting many parts of the country (especially midwest and east) lately. It's certainly not the type of weather in which we can (or wish to) take our precious old VWs out in! Long-time Discussion Group member Mr. Peter Cook (Bsvwoc@aol.com), who is the current president of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America, and who lives in Massachusetts, has been among those feeling Mother Nature's winter sting. His beloved and beautiful black 1958 Beetle's not been able to get out and stretch it's legs lately, though he also has another more appropriate "Beetle Outlet" the he can enjoy year round--namely his 40-years-newer black Beetle (a.k.a. his 1998 New Beetle)--sounds good to us, Peter!

Peter recently took some time out to send along some words & pictures to help show "where his head is at" these (cold) New England days, and also do a very nice job of showing off his superb '58 Beetle (including it's beautifully detailed-out 36 horsepower engine), plus a "goodie" from his VW trinkets collection, and a view of the "homestead."

The PHOTO AT THE UPPER RIGHT is one of the electronic images Peter sent along--it shows how his beautiful black 1958 Beetle has been spending the winter--tucked away nicely in it's own private garage! Another more detailed view of this magnificent '58 is presented BELOW:

Peter's accompanying e-mail note was dated 1/20/2005 and read as follows:

"...Hi Steve, Thought I would send along a few photos I took today. The shot show my 1958 beetle, 36 hp factory rebuilt engine, tool kit, matchbox car carrier and the "ranch" with my 1998 NB parked in the driveway. Enjoy! Cheers, Peter..."

We wish to sincerely thank Peter for taking the time to share some of his old-VW-interests and images with us--Thanks again Peter, and thanks for helping us THINK SPRING!

Now, on to more of Peter Cook's images...

BELOW: A thing of beauty sure to warm the heart of any antique Volkswagen enthusiast--the venerable 36 horsepower VW flat four engine! This "36-er" in Peter Cook's 1958 VW Beetle is 100% correct and detailed to the max! AWESOME!

BELOW: Yup, Massachusetts has been getting some snow this winter! Here's the scene in Peter's front yard, circa mid-January 2005. That's Peter's black 1998 New Beetle in the driveway.
