CURRENT FEATURE (A new photo feature posted here as of
3/8/2004):
As per the March 2004 issue of "The Headliner," this year's "Under The Oaks" event was another success, with a reported 160 cars on display, and 40 cars in the car corral area. We got there around 10am or so, parked our car and started walking over to where all the old cars were assembled. What a surprise when the first old car we were able to make out in the distance was a Volkswagen, and as we got closer, we realized it was an oval window Volkswagen! When we got even closer ,we found the owner, Steve Lange from Jensen Beach, FL, standing near the car, and struck up a friendly conversation with him, learning more about this Diamond Green Metallic gem of a '57 Beetle, including the fact that he was (and presumably still is as of this writing) offering it for sale. As I transcribed from the "for sale" sign that was posted in his '57's window, Mr. Lange is asking $10,500, and I also have Steve's e-mail and telephone, if you are at all interested in contacting him about this car. You can e-mail Steve at: Fooge49@aol.com, and you can telephone him at: 772-229-2526. I was also sure glad that I had brought my camera with me to the car show--following are more images of Steve's beautiful 1957 Volkswagen. It was a pleasure chatting with Steve about his beautiful VW! BELOW: Front view of Steve's 1957 Beetle. That's Mrs. Webmaster admiring the car in this view.
BELOW: Left side view of the car (yes, that's obviously a 'for sale' sign in the left rear quarter window).
BELOW: Right side view of the 1957 VW. Some of the other old cars in the "Under The Oakes" car show can be seen in the background.
BELOW: Nice stock 36hp engine, but upgraded to 12 volts, I believe I recall the owner telling us. Note the "H" apron as well.
BELOW: Check out this extremely cool original dealership script that was retained on the decklid, from when the car was sold new in 1957 from a (now-long-since-defunct) Vero Beach, Florida car dealership, "Chez Boye"!
BELOW: That's Mrs. Webmaster and the owner Steve chatting near the rear of the car.
