The Cornish Gliding and Flying Club is the only gliding club open to the public in Cornwall and has about 50 flying members and 50 other category members.

It can be justly proud of its history - its origins are early in the gliding movement and we are now more than 40 years old.

It is based at Perranporth airfield, an old wartime airfield ( then known as Trevellas airfield ) on the North Cornish coast, about one kilometre west of Perranporth.

Perched on the cliff edge 100 metres above the sea the airfield occupies a dramatic position with fine coastal and countryside views.

From the air ,on the right day, a large portion of Cornwall is on view. From the clay district in the east, to the north and south coasts and westward  to the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall looks magnificent.

The location is unique as a centre for combined gliding and other leisure activities - with beaches, sailing, surfing, golf, riding walking and more on offer for the non flyers.

The club has two large hangars where the majority of the club aircraft are stored rigged, and where the private gliders in trailers are parked. There is also a motor transport hangar and workshop.

The clubhouse is a small building which originally was the administration centre for the adjacent tin mines but is now our admin centre, lounge and bar.
