Materials: Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in a main color = color A, plus 4 contrasting colors (colors B, C, D, and E). You can use scrap yarn for the contrasting colors, if desired. Crochet hook size K or size needed for gauge
Gauge: Rounds 1-2 = 3 1/2 Finished size: 12
With color A, ch 5; join with a sl st to form ring
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 15 more dc in the ring; join with a sl st to the top of the begining ch 3. (16 dc)
Round 2: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st; 2 dc in each remaining dc around; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. Fasten off color A. (32 dc)
Round 3: Join color B with a sc in any dc, skip next dc, 5 dc shell in the next dc, ( skip next dc, sc in the next dc, skip next dc, 5 dc shell in the next dc) 7 times; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color B. (8 shells)
Round 4: Join color C with a sc in the middle dc of any shell, 5 dc in the next sc, (sc in the middle dc of the next shell, 5 dc shell in the next sc) 7 times; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color C. (8 shells)
Round 5: Join color D with a sc in the middle dc of any shell, 7 dc in the next sc, (sc in the middle dc of the next shell, 7 dc shell in the next sc) 7 times; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color D. (8 shells)
Round 6: Join color E with a sc in the middle dc of any shell, 8 dc in the next sc, (sc in the middle dc of the next shell, 8 dc shell in the next sc) 7 times; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color E. (8 shells)
Round 7: Join color A with a sl st in any sc, ch 4 to count as the first trc, work 4 more trc in the same st, (skip next 3 dc, sc in each on the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 3 sts, sc in each of the next 4 dc, skip next 3 dc, 9 trc in the next sc) 3 times, skip next 3 dc, sc in each on the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 3 sts, sc in each of the next 4 dc, skip next 3 dc, 4 trc in the same sc as the beginning trcs; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 4.
Round 8: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 2 more dc in the same st, (dc in each of the next 19 sts, 5 dc shell in the next st) 3 times, dc in each of the next 19 sts, 2 dc in the same st as beginning dc; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. Fasten off color A.
Round 9: Join color B with a sc to the center dc of any 5 dc shell, work another sc in the same st, (sc in each of the next 23 dc, 3 sc corner in the next dc) 3 times, sc in each of the next 23 dc, sc in the same st as joining sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color B.
Round 10: Join color C with a sc to the center sc of any 3 sc corner, work another sc in the same st, (sc in each of the next 25 sc, 3 sc corner in the next sc) 3 times, sc in each of the next 25 sc, sc in the same st as joining sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color C.
Round 11: Join color D with a sc to the center sc of any 3 sc corner, work another sc in the same st, (sc in each of the next 27 sc, 3 sc corner in the next sc) 3 times, sc in each of the next 27 sc, sc in the same st as joining sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color D.
Round 12: Join color E with a sc to the center sc of any 3 sc corner, work another sc in the same st, (sc in each of the next 29 sc, 3 sc corner in the next sc) 3 times, sc in each of the next 29 sc, sc in the same st as joining sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color E.
Round 13: Join color A with a sc to the center sc of any 3 sc corner, work another sc in the same st, (sc in each of the next 31 sc, 3 sc corner in the next sc) 3 times, sc in each of the next 31 sc, sc in the same st as joining sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
