Denise Keppel Biography

Hmm... my bio. Hard to pin down, maybe because I am hard to define. I'm a dyslexic who loves to read (a contradiction, I've been told) I seem to find pleasure in what the rest of the world doesn't and I don't like what the rest of the world does.

I remember one of my college professor bringing in a yellow rose in a blue vase as a symbol of herself. She said that her personality is split--part dynamic, part mundane. Showy and not very practical, plain and very practical. That's me too- a heirloom rose in a multicolored vase. Something old fashioned and very beautiful contained in a unusual holder.

I guess I feel that way because I have always been anchored by something. I was born in a moving box- at age twenty three I have lived in seven town, ten different houses, and attended nine different schools. Yet, I have a rich family tradition that sustains me, defines me. I draw my strength from my grandfather, the son of a dirt poor sharecropper and part Cherokee woman, a high school drop out who later had meeting with three presidents. And my great-grandmother - who had a college degree before women could vote, a lady who ran her own business in the depression, was too busy being young to ever be old. They, and the rest of my family, gave me my faith in Christ, my compassion, and my ability to know no matter how bad it is, thing will get better. If I ever get married and have a daughter, I want to name her Jamie Ann after them.

I have been told that I am pretty, although I don't see it. I have been told that I am very intelligent, yet I don't feel it. What I am is loyal, kind, determined, creative, imaginative, and competitive. I have always been my worse critic, and biggest fan. The things that interest me have been off beat- Star Trek, collecting Christmas ornaments, figuring out the most creative way to misspell a word.

Currently, I live in Atlanta, Ga and work as an Administrative Assistant for a dry cleaning trade group. Single, but looking (and hoping and praying) I live with one cat.
