SINCE our BLONDIE girl was STOLEN or LOST or whatever you
want to call it, rattie lovers have been asking, HOW did you get her back?
WHAT did you do?? What should I do or pass on to friends and others
who have beloved pets missing?
FOR this reason I have compiled Annie's TOP TEN Things to DO when you
LOSE or have a pet (rattie) missing. If you can think of anything that I
left out, please by all means let me KNOW!!
Annie's TOP TEN THINGS TO do if you LOSE your dog (OR RAT Terrier)
#1 DON'T PANIC! Stay level headed and cool, pay attention to signs around
you and follow your instincts! A dog follows his, and so should YOU!!
#2 TALK to everyone, tell everyone, tell the UPS driver, USPS people, FED X driver,
in my case I told at every store, the Puget Sound Energy workers (working on
power outage), the DOT (Dept of Transportation) men working on the roads,
cable people and everyone everywhere, OPEN YOUR BIG MOUTH, you have
it, so use it!!
# 3 FAX all the county vets (not just in your city) but the whole county.
Fax all the county police departments, all the pet shops and stores and
groomers and pet hospitals. GIVE them EASY to read and EASY to remember
details about your dog, KEEP IT SIMPLE, be sure to add your name and
address and fax # and email and picture of pet if possible. You will first have to
call them all and ask for their fax numbers in most instances.
BUT THIS IS WORTHWHILE!
#4 Make posters and signs! POST THEM EVERYWHERE,
carry them with you at all times!
#5 PLACE ads in as many of your local papers as possible, this costs money in
most instances, but if you want your dog, DO IT!!
#6 DON'T GIVE UP! KEEP DOING THESE steps over and over, follow up, make phone
calls, be persistent, LET people know you care about your pet and want it back!
#7 Be alert and aware, sometimes you can learn more by listening than by talking.
(YIKES!! DID I TYPE THIS??)
#8 Don't forget the animal shelters, trainers etc. FAX and or call them also!
#9 CONTACT local clubs and any pet related internet blogs etc.
#10 KEEP TRYING! AND GET all your pets microchipped!
