Coaching for You!

Congratulations! You have succeeded in gaining access to all the information you need to become a successful cyclist!

If you want to learn cycle for the first time, have your child trained to the National Standard for cycle training (the successor to Cycling Proficiency) or you want to return to cycling, but haven't the confidence to cope with today's traffic conditions; then 'Cycle Training East'  can help you.

CTE is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company run by cyclists just to encourage more people to cycle.

Cycle Coaching East provides coaching for those who cycle to keep fit, or want to improve their cycling performance.

We provide coaching for all cyclists and would be cyclists, throughout the Eastern Region. Whether you want to learn to ride a bike for the first time, or to encourage a youngster to become involved in one of the healthiest sports available. Or you may be an experienced cyclist wanting to ride a faster ten mile time trial, go from a 4th Cat to 1st Cat road man, or ride any new cycling discipline such as hard track for the first time. We have the necessary experience and expertise to help you.

We run a club for youngsters, to ensure they get a sound start in our sport. We provide talks and training events for any club that does not have a coach of their own.  If you want to become a coach, we are the people to help you.

We run cycling programs for both adults and young people on behalf of local authorities including Chelmsford Borough Council and Essex County Council. Our courses 'Cycle Start' and 'Into Cycling' are for youth and adult cyclists respectively. This training is aimed to encourage people to cycle for transport, fitness and leisure, or to become the next Lance Armstrong!

Cycle Coaching East is an independent organization aimed at improving and developing coaching throughout Eastern Region. We have the use of an advanced fitness suit, equipped with 'Computrainers', 'I-Magic' Trainers, and Tacx 'Grand Master' Trainers as well as a range of fitness equipment for all round training.

Our facilities include access to an 'off road' area where newcomers can learn to cycle for the first time. This area also doubles as a safe area for youngsters to learn to cycle without traffic hazards.

  • Indoor training

  • Monthly training programmes
  • Training with heart rate monitors & turbo training.
  • Peaking for targets such as special events.
  • Nutritional advice.
  • Choose your own level of training support.
  • Realistic programmes to suit your individual needs.
  • All levels catered for, from randonneé to road race, from losing weight to International competition.
  • Performance assessment; i.e. measuring your aerobic and anaerobic capacity accurately to determine your correct training levels.

Most coaches have to rely on feedback from the rider, to determine progress. Our testing equipment monitors the training of our athletes, reinforcing the personal feedback information they provide, and with much greater accuracy. This enables optimisation of the program they are following, helping them to reach up to a much higher level of performance.
