Major General Jacob Dolson Cox, commander of the 3rd Division, 23rd Army Corps in late 1864-1865. General Cox was elected Governor of Ohio in 1866 and had a distinguished career as an author, writing two well regarded books on Sherman's Atlanta campaign and the March to the Sea.
