About Victoria

The adventure of connecting with people and  learning different ways to move can be magical. For many, dancing is catalytic to our happiness.  We love the power of its energy and the variety of, fun & challenge it offers.

My mother was a ballroom dance performer in NYC, second billing to
Nat King Cole and others. I wanted to dance like my mom, so my formal training began in International Ballroom '87-'91 while living in Denver. Studying International Latin with Jess Torres & Karen Lee, Smooth with Richard & Jennifer Booth and American Style Latin with Danny Yabarra.

At some point, I felt ballroom dancing was not free and playful enough for my Sagittarian spirit so I decided to learn West Coast Swing with Michael & Amber Cross and Andrea Deaton.

A few years later, in '93, Daniel Trenner & Rebecca Shulman came along and I was hooked on Argentine Tango even going to Buenos Aires!

In '94 I moved to NYS with my children to care for my father and it didn’t take long to find out about Ithaca, this guy Steven Mitchell was going to be there. Then it was Lindy Hop classes with Bill Borgida and for parts of '98 & '99 I taught and helped choreograph Bill’s Jitterbug classes  because Lindy Hop was his main focus for a while.

I have competed and  placed in West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango and Ballroom events.  That can be fun but, competition dancing for me, is more fun to watch.

As director of UpState Dance Studies, formed in Jan 95, I  produce dance events in upstate NY.  Check Past Events  pictures.  I enjoy doing that, because it's like having a big party and all of the friends show up.  Together with DANCIN' TIME we are creating the first annual upstate dance event " UpState FOLIAGE FRENZY" in South Rochester, October 20-22 and UpState Ice Buster  February 2-4.

Last summer I was invited to perform with the USABDA performance team in Binghamton and at the Hanger theater for the Gayla Event in Ithaca.  I taught and choreographed  Jitterbug groups for the Ithaca  & Grass Roots Festivals.  This spring we performed at the Clements Center,

I travel and take workshops each year from some of the most inspirational dancers in the world so I stay excited about  fresh moves and new ideas about teaching dance.

Currently I teach classes & private lessons in  SWING (West Coast, Jitterbug, Lindy Hop and Shag), Social Ballroom, Latin, Argentine Tango and Nightclub Two-Step at 171 Cedar Arts in Corning and Common Ground, Ithaca.   Jane Fenn of Horseheads, NY described me as, “an exciting and dynamic instructor who likes to develop some general, even theoretical underpinnings to her dance instruction as she teaches a whole attitude toward movement, music, the body and the partner along with the steps of the dance.”

Thanks for taking  time to find out about me, I hope we meet  soon, and...
let's dance!
