Great Dane Rescue Mailing List .....

Books on danes.....

Almost all dane rescues across the US saw an unbelievable amount

of danes entering rescue. Great Dane Rescue in Dallas/Ft. Worth averaged an

astonishing 30+ danes a month since the start of the year 1999 ! ! !

These numbers are just too high !!

We ask that everyone who is considering getting a dane, whether from rescue

or any other source....please be prepared for a life-long commitment. These

wonderful danes are depending on YOU to make responsible decisions on their

behalf. Please check some of the sites listed that cover many of the needs

of these gentle giants, such as nutrition, care, medical needs and training.

Instead of table scraps .......

Be careful when letting your pets be indulged with the extras.

Any change to the diet can upset the stomach, and alot of

holiday foods may not be the ideal treat. Instead, consider

baking your guys some liver-loaf treats in the small

muffin tins (shaped like Christmas trees or snowmen).

Here is the recipe :

1 pound of chicken liver
2 packages Martha White corn muffin mix
1 egg
1 can mixed vegetable
1 tsp garlic powder

Mix all of the above together in a food processor, bake in

8 " square pan at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

Cool after baking, and use as treats and rewards !!

information regarding a dane in need, or housing a

dane until someone can get there.

There is daily and monthly forms of heartworm preventative Making it thru HW treatment ...

It is far cheaper to use preventative than go thru treatment.

In Florida, dogs need to stay on the preventative year round.

The weather is ideal for mosquitos to be around and in great numbers.

Usually by 12 weeks a puppy can begin taking the preventative -

daily or monthly types are available.

Altering a pet can reduce the chances of mammary, ovarian, and testicular cancer

With this slogan in mind, our area vets helped make Spay Day a success. We would like to thank all the vets in our area that participated and work hard to make our pets healthier.
