ACORD Team Challenge at the 2001 North American Young Riders' Championships

Young riders with disabilities are invited to the NAYRC to be held at Tempel Farms, Wadsworth, Illinois August 6-12, 2001 for the third Team Challenge at NAYRC. The competition is an FEI event. Riders are expected from Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Islands, and every area of the United States. The Team Challenge is an exciting event and we are thrilled to be invited again this year.

Each ACORD rider will be part of a team made up of young riders who compete in the disciplines of Show Jumping, Dressage and Eventing. Our discipline is Musical Freestyle Dressage. Test scores of ACORD riders will be added to the scores from the other disciplines to determine the overall team winners.

This is a unique opportunity to show off our skills. Riders will bring a horse or we will find a suitable mount. Riders must ride without assistance at the Advanced Trot level or above and have competition experience. We anticipate funding for travel and lodging expenses. Riders will be selected based on the following qualifications: Age 16 - 23 Dressage tests from two shows in the last twelve months Video of a dressage test at your highest skill level OR Video showing you at all gaits in both directions Preference will be given to riders with previous musical freestyle experience

Applications are due March 15 and the team will be announced April 15.

Riders chosen for the Team Challenge will also be invited to attend the Variety Salute Dressage Clinic with Jerry Schwartz in May.
