Qualification and Selection Criteria for Riders with Disabilities

ACORD Team Challenge at the North American Young Riders' Championships Hosted by: Tempel Farms August 6 - 12, 2001

Qualification requirements:

1. Athletes applying must be between 16 -23 years of age.

2. Athletes must ride without assistance at the Advanced Trot level or above.

3. Athletes must submit two dressage scores obtained in the last 12 months from any of the following types of events:

· ACORD Show,

· AHSA Recognized Dressage Show,

· USDF Recognized Dressage Show,

· USCPAA Sanctioned Class, or

· any horse show specifically for riders with disabilities.

4. Athletes must submit:

· a video of a dressage test ridden at their highest ability level, or

· a five minute video showing rider at all gaits in both directions.

5. Athletes must state whether or not they have ever ridden a musical freestyle in competition.

Selection Committee:

· The Chef d'Equipe for the event,

· A Dressage Trainer familiar with riders with disabilities, and

· An Athlete Representative.

Selection will be based on scores and riding ability at the levels to be offered at the event.

Timeline: March 15, 2001 Applications due to Selection Committee

April 15, 2001 Announcement of Team
