HARTLEY & CHANDLER GENEALOGY

These pages are dedicated to the research of the HARTLEY, CHANDLER and OGDEN surnames.

Most of the info is from Missouri resources, but all info collected on these names will be added.

My Great Great Great Grandparents are Zimri HARTLEY and Sarah Ann CHANDLER

I am searching for Zimri and Sarah's parents but can not yet prove who they are.

NOTE: Neither Zimri or Sarah appear in the 1840 MO census so they must be living with their parents or other family.

Zimri and Sarah were married August 24, 1843 in Platte County MO.
The marriage record does not list parents but says Zimri and Sarah are both of Platte County.

Marriage Record reads: "This is to certify that I William Simpson a preacher of the Gospel Solominized the rites of Matrimony between Zimri Hartley and Sally Ann Chandler on the 24 day of August 1843 both of the county of Platte and state of Missouri this Oct 30th 1843   William Simpson

Filed and Recorded this 7th day of November 1843"

Zimri and Sarah had 3 sons - all born in Moniteau County MO.
James Thomas b. 6/22/1844
William M. b. 10/22/1847 and
Henderson Zebanar b. 10/12/1849

1850 Moniteau County MO Census 58th District
Elizabeth CHANDLER age 50 born in GA
Sarah HEARTLEY age 26 born in MO
Nancy CHANDLER age 19 born in MO
Thomas     "           age 10* born in MO
Joanna      "            age 6* born in MO
William      "            age 3 born in MO
Henderson   "          age 1 born in MO

*James Thomas HARTLEY would have been 6 in 1850 so perhaps the census taker had these ages reversed? Also, Thomas, William and Henderson are obviously the HARTLEY brothers even though census just shows ditto marks.
NOTE: I am not sure yet but I believe that Elizabeth is Sarah's mother. I do not yet know who Nancy and Joanna are, but I am guessing they are Sarah's sisters.

Zimri apparently died between January 1849 (when Henderson was conceived) and September of 1849 (because not listed in 1850 mortality schedule taken in September 1850 which asks for people who died within the last 12 months.). I can not locate where he died or where he is buried.

Zimri is noted in the book History of Cole, Moniteau, Morgan, Benton, Miller, Maries, & Osgae Counties (The Goodspeed Pub. Co. Chicago 1889) as Emeri - full text of article will be added with info on his son William.

Zimri is also listed as a buyer at an estate auction for Elisha HARTLEY in Platte County in October 1844.

Death Certificates of sons James and William show name as Zemeriah.  Henderson's death certificate does not list parents.

Sarah CHANDLER HARTLEY married Presley OGDEN 3/12/1855 in Cole County MO.

Presley OGDEN had previously been married to Rebecca COFFELT and had 5 children.
