For our visit to Cypress Gardens we stayed at
the Peace Creek RV campground in Lake Wales, FL.
  This was the most laid back campground we stopped at.
 I was told that check-in time was whenever, 
and check-out time was the same! The informality
was refreshing for a change.

It's a long walk,  so get your comfy shoes on and
let's go see

Cypress Gardens


We'll start on the boardwalk.

The Spanish moss in the trees was
beautiful.  This is part of the lake shore.

The Muntjack habitat is on the
interior side of the boardwalk.

The Coati Mundi were just waking up.

And the Ring-tailed Lemur was 
greeting the day with a frown!

The water level was down and
the Cypress knees that are normally 
partially submerged were exposed.

The landscaping was beautiful.

The Buddha pond was so serene
I wanted to stay there!

Even with the water level being low
the waterfall was still flowing.

We passed this odd looking tree.
It's a Screw Pine and

this is the round pinecone it bears.

We visited the butterfly house and
although there weren't many

butterflies there,  they were beautiful.
And the setting was lovely.

We will now visit the topiary exhibits.

One of the workers was
busy getting the flowers planted

and some of the topiaries weren't
quite filled in.

This swan topiary was huge!

One of the most awesome parts of this attraction
is the Banyan Tree.  I was so amazed by this tree
I simply walked all the way around it before I ever
took a picture.  But when I started clicking,  there was
no stopping me!!  I'll explain more about this tree
with the pictures.

This Banyan Tree was planted in 1936 by the founder of
Cypress Gardens, Dick Pope Sr.

You can see by comparison with the people standing here
that this tree is HUGE!

The original trunk of the tree is located
at the end of the walkway.  What appears to be
other trunks are actually growths the tree sends
out to support the weight of its limbs.

Look closely and you'll see where some of
the supports have been cut off to keep them
from growing into the sidewalk.

And we end our trip to Cypress Gardens
with a picture of us taking a picture of us!
