Georgetown Summary
When somebody from out of town asks where to go for good food and drink, I'll usually recommend Georgetown. Georgetown is the flashy hot spot of DC. You can go by there pretty much any night of the week, and find a crowd.

One reason for this is the close proximity to Georgetown University, which is just a block up from M street (the main drag). Put 8,000 stressed out students with deep pockets anywhere and you're guaranteed nightlife.

For some reason Georgetown doesn't have a Metro station. No one really seems to know why. It's for this reason that Georgetown has the highest density of taxis anywhere in the city. If the weather's nice, you may want to take Metro anyways. It's only a 15-20 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom station or the Rossyln station.

The Tombs     Georgetown    Thumbs Up!
The Tombs is THE Georgetown University Bar. It's wedged right in between the Georgetown dorms and the academic buildings. Pretty much everyone who goes there knows everybody else (at least it seems that way) and it gets pretty crowded, even on week nights. The best time to go seems to be while the students are on break. That way you still get the college bar atmosphere without all the crowds.

Chadwicks
Chadwicks in Georgetown is off of K Street along the River.

Mr. Smith's     Georgetown
Mr. Smith's claim to fame is their burgers. They have a really nice back patio with plants and trees that is glassed in and heated in the winter.

Chadwick's     Georgetown
Chadwick's is that classic joint where you always see people meeting in the movies. It's a bit off the beaten path (for Georgetown, anyways). It's on K street, which is one block down from M street (the main drag). They have pretty good happy hour specials just about every day.

Grog & Tankard    Glover Park
Grog & Tankard is actually about 1-2 miles up Wisconsin Ave from Georgetown's M street. G & T is your standard live metal club with live bands everynight. All of them aren't thrash bands, but most of them are.

Cafe Babalu    Georgetown
Cafe Babalu is the elegant alternative to any of the G-town dance clubs or beer swillin' taverns. The food is good, although expensive. The best part is their roof top seating where you can eat and watch the people walking up and down the street.

Tony & Joe's Seafood Place     Georgetown
Tony & Joe's definatly gets the vote for the best atmosphere, but the worst food for the money. You'll find Tony & Joe on the Georgetown waterfront overlooking the Potomac River. My suggestion here is to go there and drink, enjoy the view of the river, the crew teams, the yatchs, the monuments, but not order any food.

Champions    Georgetown
Champions is just what you'd expect from a Sports Bar. Lots of TVs. Lots of beer mugs. Lots of bar food. Although, every once in a while I'll see a live band there, and they've always been pretty good. Mostly acoustic type music.

Music City Roadhouse     Georgetown   Thumbs Up!
Music City Roadhouse is one of the more laid back watering holes in Georgetown. No tablecloths. No dress code. No waitresses. Nothing breakable. The walls are covered with thousands of business cards. Just ask the bar keep to borrow his stapler.

Charring Cross    Georgetown
Charring Cross....

Third Edition    Georgetown
Third Edition is a cosy little resaurant downstairs, with a large open area upstairs. On weekends dancing has been known to break out. Third Edition has happy hour specials sometimes, but not all the time.
