Second Season Episode Guide: Part 2

The Return Of The Shadow Assassin
ad: Caine faces his supreme rival: the Shadow Assassin!

Six months after "Redemption" part 2, the shadow assassin (Martin Kove), "who can kill you with his thoughts," Peter says, returns seeking revenge accompanied by his master (George Lazenby - 007 in On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Peter experiences nightmares in which Caine and Peter's girlfriend Kelly Blaine are captured by the Shadow Assassin. Several women Peter knows have been killed, and Peter is the link. After a six- month absence, Caine returns to face the Shadow Assassin. Kelly Blaine is taken by the Shadow Assassin, and then Peter is also captured. Caine and the Ancient join together to fight the Shadow Assassin and his master and release their prisoners. Everett Cooper: Gary Blumsack; Sally: Krista Bridges. (Intro Kermit)

May I Ride With You
ad: A celebrity stalker takes aim and Caine and Peter!
Teleplay: Phil Bedard and Larry Lalonde; Director: Peter Crane
Reasoning that "to truly know a man, you must see him at his labors," Caine joins Peter on his beat for a day. In the course of that day, Caine is the victim of a car-jacking, during which he drives a car for the first time (and Peter commandeers Skalany's car to try to catch them); Peter and Caine take over a surveillance operation for Blake and Katz, during which the stalker appears, and Peter enters the apartment where he is knocked out - Caine awakens him by turning up the gain on the communications equipment, and Peter saves the woman life; Peter talks a young boy into giving another foster home a try by telling him about his experiences in the orphanage; Peter and Caine foil a robbery; Caine talks a young woman down from the ledge of a building by telling her about his losing Peter; Peter foils an attack on celebrity Regis Philbin by an Elvis impersonator by impersonating Philbin and convincing the shooter that he'll interview him on his show. Dragon's Daughter
ad: A killer seeks revenge on her father's murderer: Kwai Chang Caine! Also: An evil enemy appears in a seductive form!
Teleplay: Stephen Hattman; Director: Zale Dalen
A dead crime lord's (Tan) daughter (Marla Sucharetza) seeks "revenge for the blood on (Caine's) hands." When Caine is called out by Tan's daughter through the murders of two men, Caine finds the latest body and is arrested for murder. He is released and identifies who the murderer is, although he cannot say what she looks like. Peter goes to the Ancient for something to attract her - he gives Peter "love drops" which Peter overuses. When he arrives at the Ambrosia Club, Peter is beset by women - and a man, but attracts the murderess. Walking her home through Hale Park, where the murders occurred, he challenges her, and she beats him up. In the meantime, Caine travels back through time to ask for Master Po's absolution so he can battle Xia. He arrives at the Park and uses the illusion of splitting into four Caines - the four winds, and defeats Xia. She manages to escape prosecution by implying that Peter set her up for a sexual escapade. Cap: Sam Malkin; Attorney Garrison: Jonathan Whittaker; Terry: Matt Trueman; Tom Black: Jerry Levitan.
Flashback: The use of smell as an attractant. Keep one eye on the open hand.

An Ancient Lottery
ad: New episode! Will $38 million corrupt Caine and destroy Peter?

Builder McIllroy gives out lottery tickets as a token to the Chinese community when he renegs on his plan to build a community center (he plans to build a mall instead). The Ancient is besieged by charities, con artists and thugs after winning $38 million from the lottery ticket he gets from McIllroy. The Ancient and Caine are invited to a charity ball, where Caine meets a con artist, Amanda Dobson. Jack Wong, returned to the neighborhood, is determined to get the lottery ticket from the Ancient, but all his efforts fail, thanks to Caine and the Ancient's own abilities to defend themselves. In the meantime, Peter seeks evidence against crooked cop, Jimmy Leola (Joel Wyner), who murdered a police friend of Peter's. Leola is on suspension pending an IA investigation, and trying to find his girlfriend, Paula Wainright, who witnessed the murder. Peter and Jody Powell also try to find her, and they locate her at La Maquette, but before Peter can bring her in, Leola shows up and she bolts. Peter, who has taken the Ancient's lottery ticket for safe-keeping, has his pocket picked by Benny Coleman. Later, when he and Jody track Leola and Paula to Leola's boat, he discovers his wallet is missing, and tracks Coleman down with Donny Double D's help. Peter ends up finding his wallet - and the ticket - in the dumpster. He returns the ticket to the Ancient, who is returning home with Caine from a charity ball. The next day, the Ancient gives away then entire fortune, including a million dollars to McIllroy to build the community center. Peter enlists the help of a girl named Laurie Richmond (Heather Brown) with psychic abilities - and a "spiritual connection" to Caine - to help him ensnare a cop killer. Temple
ad: Caine's oldest enemy reignites a bloody feud!

A visit to the ruins of their old temple leads Caine and Peter into a confrontation with the vigilantes who attempted to destroy the building 15 years earlier. At the temple, Peter finally visits his mother's grave. In the town across the lake, Braniff, CA, Caine and Peter meet the widow of another priest, Michael Lowry. She (Rachel) is being terrorized by the same man who attempted to destroy the temple so many years earlier. Peter and Caine help her complete the shrine she's building in her husband's memory, and Peter befriends her son, Sam. Following a bust with Kermit, Peter takes some time off and Caine joins him. They go to Three Mountain Lake, a place about 200 miles north of the city, where Blaisdell used to take Peter fishing. Trying to assist lost campers, Caine and Peter stumble onto a shelter where a fugitive, (Laurence Dane) and his outlaw sons are hiding.
