Look How She's Grown!

Baby MeiLi

MeiLi  Now

August 2000

MeiLi was adopted when she was eight months old. I knew she was special from the moment I first met her. She was born in Qidong in Hunan, China using China's Children  (Children's Hope International), a wonderful agency based in St. Louis.

MeiLi is an incredible child. She has such a contagious laugh and bubbly personality. She has an active imagination and loves to play games of pretend. Her language skills are impressive. MeiLi is almost five years old, 42 inches tall, and weighs 45 pounds.

MeiLi - September '99

Favorite Songs

MeiLi loves to sing, dance, rock, and hum to music. Her favorite tunes are: "Baa Baa Black Sheep," the Theme song from "Veggie Tales," and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." She sings all of the original words, then makes up her own words.

"Cutie Patootie"

I stole this nickname from Rosie. It just fits MeiLi .

She is also known as Baby Doll, Sweetie-Pie, Cozy Rosie, and Squirt.

MeiLi - July '00

Favorite Animals

MeiLi is fascinated with snakes, turtles, fish, alligators, penguins, and pandas. One of her favorite movies is "The Amazing Panda Adventure."

MeiLi - Dec. 1998

Expressive Language

At two, MeiLi  knew 600 words.

At thirty months she spoke in complex sentences.

Now, she amazes me with her extensive vocabulary.

"This pen isn't working. What a wretched pen!"

"This soup is 'magnifique.'"

"I can't eat another bite. My stomach hasn't adjusted yet."

Grandparents

(AKA Mor-Mor and Pop-Pop)

MeiLi's Mor-Mor and Pop-Pop both spoil her constantly. Mor-Mor buys MeiLi the cutest clothes.  MeiLi and "Poppy" go on long outings with her little red wagon. She collects stones, flowers, and other treasures along the way.

Favorite Books

MeiLi's current favorites are I Love You Like Crazy Cakes, Families Are Different, and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. She still loves books by Mercer Mayer.

She just keeps getting better!
