1920 Grayson County, Kentucky, Census
Published June 2005
People who lived on the North Side of Green River faced a tremendous barrier--the Green River--in reaching Morgantown, the county seat of Butler County, especially during winter months. For that reason, and simply because it was closer, many of them conducted their business in adjoining Grayson County. Those who lived on the county line were only five miles from Caneyville, in Grayson County. They were three times that far from Morgantown. These folks formed ties through marriage with the Grayson County folk, and many moved back and forth between the two counties as the years went by. This book helps locate and identify many Butler County families and their descendants.

Deed abstracts

Many researchers are not aware of the vast amount of information available in deeds, which often identify members of entire families, and tell us where our ancestors came from, precisely where they lived while in the county, and where they went when they continued their migration.
