Desert Wind (Winner of 2 Gamel
Awards) was the
featured band at the first ever
International
Academy Awards of Middle Eastern Dance
(~Now an acclaimed annual event
held in Los Angeles, California)
On Sept 15-16 1997, Desert Wind
first travelled to the Portland, Oregon
Living Enrichment Center. There they were honored to play
for the conference of the "Society for the Universal Human."
Barbara Marx Hubbard and many
others were present.
The famous teacher, author, and advisor, Jean
Houston said:
"Your music is truly a once in ancient future experience.
I have purchased all of your cds and tapes, and I will use them in my seminars."
Joan Borysenko, a fabulous presenter and famous author,
also purchased all of Desert Wind's material.
Gary Zukav, loved the
music
and sent Desert Wind an autographed book.
Desert Wind found
Rev. Mary Manin Morrissey to be an incredible force of light,
and the group now
appears often for Special Events at the The Living Enrichment Center.
A favorite event was on August 2,
1998 when Desert Wind played
for the Living
Enrichment Center's annual picnic.
It was *sensational* with over 1,500 people attending.
What a great group bonding experience!
On January 30, 1998, Desert Wind played at the
Utah State Capitol Rotunda. The whole band was there,
accompanied by a number of other performers as they joined in
the world-wide peace
meditation.
On Sunday, March 22, Desert Wind was completely at home while
performing for the wonderful people
at the
Santa Rosa Church
of Religious Science.
Desert Wind performed Saturday, May 2nd
at the Salt Lake Jewish Community Center at Fort Douglas.
This was a COMMUNITY-WIDE event celebration
of Israel's 50th Anniversary of Independence.
October 23-25th they played at the Mid-Eastern Dance Festival near Portland,
Oregon.
The weekend was sponsored by "Jareeda"
- the international middle eastern dance magazine.
On December 13, 1998, Desert Wind performed in Arizona at Unity
of Phoenix,
followed by a performance at Ruach Hamidbar
(Spirit of the Desert) Congregation's Chanukah Celebration.
New Year's Eve starts early each year when Desert Wind shares
for the Peace Meditation held locally at 4:30 AM!
