MEMORIAL CEMETERY Welcome to the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery (SNVMC). A State of Nevada shrine dedicated to those who have given years of service, and in some cases, their lives, on behalf of our great nation. SNVMC was established April 6, 1990 and is located approximately 30 miles south of Las Vegas, NV. In the beautiful city of Boulder City, NV near the historic Boulder Dam (previously Hoover Dam). There are a total of 79.3 acres with 18 acres currently developed. The Avenue of Flags is only displayed on Veterans Day, Memorial Day and other special days throughout the year. Listed are some general facts, as this is only a summary, If detailed information is required refer to the Rules and Regulations manual of the SNVMC. ELIGIBILITY: We use the same qualifications the National Cemetery uses which basically states a veteran who has served his country honorably can be interred. Undesirable, bad conduct or other than honorable discharge may or may not qualify depending on a determination made by the Commission for Veterans Affairs. RESIDENCY- Residency in the State of Nevada is NOT a requirement for burial at SNVMC. RESERVE ELIGIBILITY. Any member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces, the Army National Guard, the Air National Guard, or the Reserve officers Training Corps of the Army, Navy or Air Force who dies under honorable conditions while serving on active duty for training or performing full-time service or twenty(20) years service and eligible for retirement. DEPENDENTS:An eligible spouse or child qualifies. BURIAL:Burial for a veterans and spouse or child is a stacked burial in the same plot. Cremated burials are side-by-side, sharing the same plot. COST: The cemetery portion of a burial includes the plot, opening and closing of the plot, concrete vault, headstone and perpetual care. This is free to the Veterans, but costs $350.00 for the eligible spouse or child. The funeral arrangements for casket or cremation must be made with a funeral home. Prices vary among different funeral homes, so please research carefully for the best service and price. ADVANCED RESERVATIONS: We request you furnish us with an advanced plot request. We also need a CERTIFIED TRUE COPY of the DD-214 or separation paper showing both ENTRY AND DISCHARGE DATES along with CHARACTER OF DISCHARGE. A copy of your MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE is also required. There are NO advanced plot assignments and we use this information not for determining eligibility but for advanced planning for future expansion. To acquire a CERTIFIED TRUE COPY take your ORIGINAL discharge papers along with copies to VA BENEFITS OFFICE at 3233 W.
