PILGRIMS, PIONEERS & ALIENS
By Diana L. Smith
Every American genealogist hopes to find evidence of a Pilgrim ancestor, or at the very least an early Western pioneer. What most of us find, however, is a long string of immigrants - alien ancestors.... if we're lucky! When we hit a dead end, we swear they must have been the other kind of aliens, orphaned by extra-terrestrial parents who returned to their home planet leaving no trace. I hope you find this column will provide techniques, resources, and inspirational stories to help you "keep the faith" and continue digging when you've hit one of those famous brick walls.
I am always interested to hear from readers, so if you have any comments, suggestions, or questions, please email me at: dianahome@aol.com.
EXCITING NEWS!
Since July 2001 I have been writing a bi-weekly column for the Cleveland Sun Newspapers. The official archive of those articles (with the permission of the Sun) is now appearing (in pieces) at the following link. It is still a work in progress, so please watch as we grow! Note that the index is currently only by date - and most of the links are to recent dates, so please scroll down until you see the linked articles. A subject index and title index will be coming soon - along with the other articles. Please be patient and watch us grow!
