Hello and welcome to my site. I hope you enjoy visiting it and are able to take something worthwhile away from the experience. I've been busy with life this past year, so you may have noticed the lack of updates. Hopefully, I am back to updating the site on a more regular basis.
A little about my history....Although I feel that I have been transgendered my entire life, it has really only been in the last five years or so that I have come to terms with and finally accepted this fact. For many years I would have defined myself as a crossdresser (CD for short) meaning that I would on occasion dress and present myself as a woman. As time went on I came to realize that my transgendered feelings ran much deeper than just the desire to wear women's clothes. By the time I was 35 I had come to terms with the fact that I was a transsexual. Over the next few years I progressed towards transition and in July of 1999 I began living full time as a female with the exception of my place of work In December of 1999 I came out there and have not looked back since. In October of 2000 I completed the final phase of my transition when I underwent gender reassignment surgery with Dr. Brassard in Montreal.
I am happy to report that on the whole I have been accepted in all aspects of my life including my children, family, friends, co-workers and even my ex-spouse. The only losses I have encountered was the older of my two sisters who has cut off contact with me. On a more positive note, I was recently married to a wonderful guy on June 29th of 2002.
In 2002 I was elected as National Board Chairwoman of The Renaissance Transgender Association, Inc. Renaissance is a non-profit organization that's mission is to support and educate all members inside and outside of the transgendered community. We have support groups though out the USA, do numerous outreach programs and publish the only monthly transgender related magazine Transgender Community News (more information is available at the web site).
Living my life openly is obviously
important to me, I feel it is also very important for people to see and
get to know transgendered people on a person to person level. Unfortunately
the general perception the public has of transgendered people is often
gotten from sensationalistic talk shows, sitcoms or the occasional news
story. Almost always the information is wrong or tainted and focuses on
the most extreme elements of the transgendered community. Most of us are
just regular decent people wanting to be accepted for who we are and not
judged just because we are transgendered. Give us a chance and you might
be surprised to find that we are not so different.
