Christine Jorgensen A Personal Autobiography (1967)
Christine’s autobiography documents her life from birth through to when the book was published in 1967. Though not the first person to ever receive gender reassignment surgery, no one can argue that she was a trail blazer or ignore the impact her story had on the public. The parts of the book I found most interesting were the chapters that took place during the media circus surrounding her operation and the years that followed as she tried to etch out a living as a woman. In my opinion it is the definitive transsexual autobiography and a must read for anyone interested in gender studies.
