The Delphines: Kathy Valentine (guitar/vocals)
Dominique Davalos (vocals/bass)
Gina Schock (drums/vocals)
Turn it up, bring the blues. And you thought this Cherry Bombs tribute thing ends with pop, pop, rock, and pop! I, an obvious Kathy & Gina fan, had to see The Delphines for myself. In case you failed Women In Music 101, Kathy and Gina were once in The Go-Go's. I'll say no more about it; check the Go-Go's page. So, when I heard Kathy was back on guitar playing blues/rock with Gina on drums, I got me a fake ID and found myself at Linda's Doll Hut, November of '97. The Fire Dept. could have had a field day with the Doll Hut; it was so packed, the hut was busting at the seams. My first Delphines experience was absolutely amazing....and I had gone totally unprepared for the Dominique Experience. purr Can you say "catsuit?"

Aaah! Drummers give me a headache! As I continue my eternal quest for thee drummer, The Delphines have picked up yet another! Amazing....but from what I've heard this Hilary Jones is incredible!
The Delphines just recently posted the news on their official webpage. From what Kathy wrote, Gina's parting from the band was neither a bitter, angry or dramatic break but was merely based on "musical differences." Gina will now be able to devote all her energy and passion to her own solo project. Info on her band is still to come.
Now, if you know your Delphines history, you'll know that this drummer switching ritual is nothing new to the band. There *was* drummer life before Gina. In 1995, the Delphines' drummer was Paul Crowder. He played on the '95 6-song mini-LP. The 1996 full length album on FountainBleu features Paul, Joel Turrisi, and Clem Burke on drums. And for most of '96, if I'm not mistaken, the "super magnifico rockin' hillbilly firecracker" Sherri McGee played live with The Delphines. Now enter Gina Schock. August 1998, exit Gina...introducing Hilary Jones!!! I can't wait to see her at the Sugar Shack! Full report after I see her play.

11/28---The Delphines have landed wednesday nights at The Gig in Hollywood!!! They'll be playing at The Gig EVERY wednesday night starting December 16th. And, recording begins on the 19th. They'll be recording 3 songs from the 19th until "whenever they're done," as Kathy put it. So the songs won't be rushed; they won't be demo jobs.. This is serious recording for the next full length album.
10/11---The next few months will be almost completely devoted to the recording of the new CD, with the exception of a few shows in CA and TX. This CD, however, may not be a "delphines" album. The ladies are considering changing their name. They find this the comfortable thing to do since over the years they've gone through so many changes. They want to build something new for the band.
Speaking of "something new," Gina will be percussionist on John Mellencamp's upcoming tour.
8/26---Like I mentioned above, there's a new drummer in town; goes by the name of Hilary Jones. Other than the drummer news, there's reports that there are a bunch of new songs ready to go. We won't be hearing many of them too soon at shows, but another album has been promised by the end of the year. If anything in the near future, we may hear songs "Center of the Universe" and "Hello World" at shows. You've been warned.
****Just a friendly reminder: The Tiki Bar is evil! Join me in my holy crusade against the dark side, who's headquarters are at the tiki bar in costa mesa...not on the Death Star! I vow to one day torch and t.p. the Tiki Bar.****
