Based in Norfolk, Nebraska, I'm managing editor of Nebraska Life Magazine
and author of A Dirty, Wicked Town: Tales of 19th Century Omaha. I speak
at writers' conferences and other public events (such as the Plains Writers Fiesta at Wayne State College earlier this year), and
offer editorial services on a freelance basis. I was recently honored with an Omaha
Press Club Excellence in Journalism Award: "Flight of the Explorer" (Nebraska
Life, July/August 2007) was named best magazine feature of 2007. This site is designed to introduce you to some of my work. See the Writing page for book news and samples of my writing. See the Editorial Services page to learn how I can help you with your own
writing projects or with your company's publications. If you're looking for a speaker for your next event, I specialize in Nebraska topics,
especially history (emphasizing its more colorful aspects), and topics related to writing
and getting published. For anything regarding Nebraska Life, please refer to the contacts page at the magazine's website. The services offered here are unaffiliated with Nebraska Life Publishing, Inc. I enjoy keeping a few projects going on the side. The images on this page represent some of the publications I've authored, edited, or
contributed to. I work on a variety of projects, assisting writers from beginners to
professionals. You can reach me at dlbristow@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
