About Our Doctor

Dr. Anthony Lizano is Board Certified in Impant Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology / Implant Dentistry. Additionally, he holds Diplomate and Fellowship credentials in several national and international implant organizations. He is a graduate of UCLA School of Dentistry and has received additional training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut. He is certified in intravenous sedation techniques and is an examiner for the California State Board of Dental Examiners for anesthesia permits. Additionally, he is a Qualified Medical Examiner for the State of California.

How Implants are used to replace single missing teeth

Here, on the right, is an example of how implants work to replace single teeth: The implant is placed in the bone, an abutment is connected a few months later, and a replacement tooth is attached. Alternatives, shown on the left involve grinding teeth and cementing bridges. One great advantage to the implant is that the healthy, adjacent teeth do not have to be prepared (ground down) or be connected together.

Implants can be used to support a full set of replacement teeth

A full set of replacement teeth are shown here for the lower jaw. The same can be done in the upper jaw. On the left is a conventional lower denture. Notice there are no points of attachment. The denture just sits on the gum tissue. On the right is a full lower implant supported restoration. This provides dramatic improvements in comfort, chewing ability, and self-confidence.
