CPF-AY AYER HOMEPAGE
Ayer Massachusetts, Guilford's Crossroads
Since 1989, when Guilford management decided to shift most of their
traffic off the west end of the B&M in favor of moving the traffic over
the Conrail Boston Line, Ayer has become one of the busiest spots
in Gulfordland. As I write this in January 1997, trains through Ayer
consist of SENE/NESE, SELA/LASE, PODH/DHPO, TV96/95,
LAED/EDLA and the Bow NH Unit Coal Trains. In addition, Conrail
runs a dedicated autorack train ML438/439 that terminates in the Hill Yard
in Ayer (Train Symbols).
There are also a handful of local switchers that work through the day
delivering cars to the various customers. And last but not least, the
MBTA runs their commuter service all day long too.
