The Documented Harold and Maude Hearse ™
Site
under redo, trying new design...
When you think of Hearses,
you can't help but think of the beautiful
1959 Cadillac Superior used in the
classic "cult" film, Harold
& Maude.
This hearse has been claimed
to be owned by many individuals, from a
gentleman in Southern California, to the
now deceased actor Brandon Lee.
Unfortunately, none of these
funeral cars had any sort of
documentation, and the original remained
horribly missing in action.
|
I had almost given up
looking, when I was contacted by a man
who lives in the Northern CA area.
He claimed to own the
hearse, and that he actually had
documentation.
He invited me to come view
the hearse, and inspect his paperwork. I
was skeptical at first, but I'm not
anymore....
|
Here's
why...
The
Proof
The
letter from April 10, 1975 from the California
Department of Motor Vehicles
stating that the vehicle in question, according
to the paperwork,
one 1959 Cad, lic. plate 504 COO, vin #
159602L324
was owned by Collin Higgins/Mildred Lewis,
with dates appropriate to the filming of the
movie "Harold & Maude".
This
hearse's Vin # & plate correspond with that
of the letter, and also the movie.
Also, the bill for the four year history provided
by the DMV.
This is of note due to the matching unit
reference # ma-14.
Please
view the documents here.
The
Pictures
Several
Pictures of the 1959 Cadillac Superior Hearse,
with the CA plate 504 COO clearly visible.
Also,
for you to enjoy, a picture taken during the
filming of the
funeral scene filmed in our own Palo Alto, CA.
These
pictures may be viewed here.
The
Owner
Please
take a few moments to read a statement from the
owner of the
1959 Cadillac Superior Hearse, who's decided to
go "semi-public",
in order to get his hearse the credit it so
rightfully deserves.
This
may be viewed here.

Psychiatrist:
Tell me, Harold, how many of these, uh,
"suicides" have you performed?
Harold: An accurate number would
be difficult to gague.
Psychiatrist: Well, just give me
a rough estimate.
Harold: A rough estimate? I'd
say... fifteen.
Psychiatrist: Fifteen?
Harold: That's a rough estimate.
Psychiatrist: Were they all done
for your mother's benefit?
Harold: No, I would not say
"benefit."

They're just... backing away from life. Reach
