WATERMELON POTHOLDER

FINISHED SIZE: 8" across
MATERIALS:
Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn
1 ounce Red
Small amount of White, Green and black
Small amount of Polyester fiberfill
Aluminum crochet hook, size G
Tapestry Needle
GAUGE: 7 dc = 2"
Potholder: Starting in center with Red ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 15 dc in ring.l Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, *Work 2 dc in next dc) 3 times, dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join as before.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Rep from *around, join.
Rnd 4: Rep last rnd (62 sts, counting ch 3 as first). Break off.
Embroidery. With black and tapestry needle, embroider lazy daisy sts, on rows 3 and 4. Fold circle in half, insert small amount of fiberfill for stuffing between both halves.

BORDER:
Row 1 (right side): Make lp on hook with red, and work through both thicknesses on this row. Start and end this row at fold. *Insert hook in next sc and in sc behind it at same time; yo and draw lp through, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Rep from * across (31 sc) Break off, turn.
Row 2 (wrong side): With white, dc across sc's of last row, inc 6 dc evenly across. Break off, turn.
Row 3 (right side): With green, dc across sts of last row, inc 7 dc evenly across, at end of row ch 11 for loop, sc in 2nd ch and in each ch across.
Break off, sew last sc to first sc to form loop.

OZARK HILLBILLY POTHOLDER

MATERIALS: 4-ply yarn--- about 2 ozs. dk. brown, 1 oz. beige, 20 yds. blacks,
samll amount red; yarn needle; size F and I crochet hooks.
NOTE: Work with two strands of yarn held together.

FACE
Row 1: With I hook and beige, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch
across, ch, turn (4).
Row 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st, ch
1, turn (6).
Rows 3-7: Repeat row 2 (8, 10, 12, 14, 16).
Rows 8-23: Sc in each st across. Fasten off.

HAT CROWN
Row 1: With I hook and dk. brown, ch 19, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each
ch acrossm ch 1, turn (18).
Rows 2-8: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row 9: Sc first 2 sts tog, sc in next 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 6
sts, sc last 2 sts tog, ch turn (15).
Row 10: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row 11: Sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last 2 sts
tog, ch 1, turn (13).
Row 12: Repeat row 10.
Row 13: Repeat row 11 (11).
Row 14: Repeat row 10.
Row 15: Repeat row 11 (9).
Row 16: Repeat row 10.
Rows 17-19: Repeat row 11 (7, 5, 3).
Row 20: Sc first 2 sts tog, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

BRIM
Row 1: With right side of hat facing you, join dk. brown in loweer right-hand
corner of hat crown with sc in first lp, sc in same lp, sc in each lp across
to last lp, 2 sc in last lp, ch 1, turn (20).
Row 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st, sc
1, turn (22).
Rows 3-8: Repeat row 2 ( 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34 ). Do not ch 1, turn at end
of row 8. Fasten off.

BEARD
Cut about 100 strands of black yarn 6" long. Fold 2 strands in half. Insert
hook in side of sc of face near top, pull fold through st, pull ends of yarn
through fold, tighten for fringe. Attach fringe evenly around face.

MOUTH
With 1 strand of red and F hook, ch 5. Fasten off. Sew to face.

NOSE
With 1 strand beige and I hook, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each
st around. Fasten off. Thread yarn through sts, pull into a ball. Sew to
face.

EYES
With 1 strand dk. brown and F hook, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in
each st around. Leaving a 6" length of yarn, fasten off. Sew to face.

Sew hat to face with running stitch, sewing through first row of brim and
last row of face. Sew plastic ring to back for hanging.

Shamrock Pot Holder

Materials:
4-ply yarn white and green
size F Hook
Tapestry needle

Gauge 4 sc and 4 sc rows= 1"

Pattern note: Join rnds with a sl st unless otherwise stated.

Pot Holder Make 2 green and 2 white
Row 1: Ch 26, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 24 chs, ch1, turn. (25 sc)
Row 2-26: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (25 sc)

Edging
Sc evenly sp around piece, working 3 sc in each corner, join in beg sc, fasten off.

Shamrock
Make 1 white and 1 green shamrock
Ch 4, join to form a ring, [ch 3, 4 dc in ring, sl st in ring] 3 times, ch 9, sl s in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 7 chs, sl st in ring, fasten off.
Sew green shamrock to RS of 1 white side; sew white shamrock to RS of 1 green side.

Finishing
Holding 2 white sides tog, WS tog, attach green with a sl st in any corner, sc evenly around, working 3 sc in each corner, join in beg sc, ch 10 (hanging lp), sl st at base of ch-10, fasten off. Join green sides in same manner, using white yarn.

BIRTHDAY CAKE POTHOLDER

Size: approx 9 1/2" x 9"
Materials: Lily Sugar n Cream worsted weight l00% cotton yarn (2.5 oz/70
grams per ball): l ball each butterscotch #91 (MC); white #01 (A) and camel
#89 (B), and small amount yellow #10 (C)
Size G hook and size H hook
PATTERN NOTES: join rds with sl st unless other wise stated. To change
color in sc when working borders, draw up a lp in last st before color change
with current color, drop current color yo with next color, draw thru 2 lps on
hook.

CAKE FRONT
Row l: with larger hook and A, ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch
across, turn. (30)
Row 2: ch l, 2 sc in first sc, sc in eachc sc across to last sc, 2 sc in
last sc, turn. (32)
Row 3-4: rep row 2, fasten off at end of row 4.(36)
Row 5: sk first 4 sc, attach MC in next sc, ch l, sc in same st, sc in each
of next 27 sc, turn. (28)
Row 6-10: ch l, sc in each sc across, turn, at end of row l0, do not turn.
Row ll: working in front lps only, attach B at beg of last row, ch l, sc in
first sc, (sl st, ch 4, sl st) in next sc, *sc in next sc, (sl st, ch 4, sl
st) in next sc, rep from * across, fasten off B, turn.
Row 12: working in unused back lps of previous row with MC, pick up st, ch
l, sc in each sc across, turn.
Row 13_17: rep row 6, at end of row l7, do not turn.
Row l8: rep row ll.
Row l9: rep row 12.
Row 20-24: rep row 6, at end of row 24, fasten off MC, do not turn.
Row 25: rep row ll, do not fasten off B, turn.
Row 26: working in unused back lps of previous row, ch l, sc in each sc
across, turn.
Rows 27-29: rep row 6, fasten off at end of row 29.

CANDLE
Row l: sk first 12 sc of row 29, with larger hook attach A in next sc, ch l,
sc in same st, sc in each of next 3 sc, turn. (4)
Row 2-6: ch l, sc in each sc across, turn, fasten off at end of row 6.

CAKE BACK
Row l-6: rep row l-6 of cake front candle.

FINISHING
Joining
Place cake front and back WS tog. With front facing, working thru both
thicknesses using smaller hook, sc evenly around outer edge, using MC on MC
sections, A on A sections and B on B sections, working 3 sc in each corner,
join in beg sc.
Flame/Loop
With larger hook and C, ch 12, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch
across, join in beg sl st to form loop.
Attach securely to top of candle.

Pants/Panties Potholders

These are the cutest little potholders. I have made them in several different colors as gifts. Hope you enjoy them.

Panties Pot Holders: Hook G or H
With MC yarn, ch 38, join with sl st to form ring. Work only in back look throughout the pattern.
Row 1: ch3, dc in next 8 sts, 3 dcs in next st (inc. made), dc in next 18sts. 3 dc in next st (inc made), dc in next 9 sts. Join with sl st. Ch 3.
Row 2: Dc in each st around and inc in the inc st only. Join with a sl st.
Repeat row 2 five more times (7 row in all)
Row 8: with white yarn sc in ea st around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.
Row 9: with MC yarn, ch 3, dc in ea st around. Join with sl st. Fasten off.

Crotch of Panties: With MC yarn, join to 14th st, ch 3, dc in next 6 sts, ch
3, turn, dc in next 6 sts. Fasten off.
Repeat on other side in the same place and then sew together to form legs.

Trim around legs: With white yarn, join in any st, sc in the same st, (skip1st st, 4 dc in next st).
Repeat pattern st around. Fasten off. Repeat on other leg.

Top of Panties: With wrong sides together, sc in ea st through both thicknesses (18 sc in all). Ch 8, sl st to form ring for hanging. Fasten
off.

Pants Pot Holders:
With white yarn, repeat rows 1 through 7 of panties pattern.

Row 8: with MC yarn to match panties, join to 1st st on either side of increase st and sc around, join with sl st. Fasten off.
Row 9: with white yarn, join, ch 3, dc in ea st around, join with sl st.
Fasten off.
Row 10: with MC yarn, sc in ea st around, join with sl st.
Row 11: Repeat row 10. Fasten off.
