David Edward Spondike, Ph.D.

I live in Copley, Ohio with my little girl Alexandra, her big sister Mickayla, and their mom Kellye.

I teach music theory and music history at Firestone High School Magnet Arts in Akron, Ohio.

My Ph.D. is in Theory & Composition from Kent State University where I am also a member of the Delta Chi chapter of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.

My master's degree is in Music Education from the University of Akron, and I am certified to teach Music K-12 in the state of Ohio.

My bachelor's degree is from Ohio State in Photography & Cinema. Between 1988 and 1992 I lived in Cincinnati, where I worked in television. While at the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, I did a stint as the Assistant Director for the Jerry Springer show.

I love to sail Lake Erie in my 17' Venture every chance that I get.

The saddest part of my life has been the passing of my wife, Julie Winters.
We were divorced before she died, but that's just part of a long, complicated story.
I know that we loved each other to the end.

I was born in 1961 in Painesville, Ohio.
My parents Ed & Elaine still reside in the neighboring city, Mentor.
Ed, a former teacher, has retired from the Fasson Division of Avery International,
and now spends his time writing accordian music and doing a little consulting on the side.
My mother is a former school secretary and served on the Board of Directors of the NEA
(National Education Association), as well as in many other capacities with the NEA, OEA, MTA, etc., etc., etc.
Elaine is a liver transplant recipient and is a volunteer with Life Banc.
