 WHEN'S THE NEXT TRAIN?

The number one question in railfanning is always "WHEN IS THE NEXT TRAIN?
Below is a general list of what trains usually come thru the Orlando area and roughly what time.  some are daily trains while others have varying schedules.  Please remember, these times will vary for a number of reasons.

[NB = northbound, SB = southbound]

[UPDATED:  05/07/08)

SPECIAL NOTE:  Autorack trains Q255 and Q258 were discontinued in
April 2008.  Q237, which ran through here for years had been diverted to
the S line is now back on the A line. Schedule hasn't been determined yet.
Q214 out of Tampa now runs through here and seems to be running in the
afternoons around 5 PM.

Q178 NB Intermodal, depart Taft 0001 (Q177 power)
Q187 SB Intermodal, arrive Taft 0030
P053 SB Autotrain, arrive Sanford 0930
P091 SB Amtrak Silver Star, arrive Winter Park 0954
Z915 SB FCEN to Taft, about 1000
Z915 NB FCEN from Taft, about 1100
P097 SB Amtrak Silver Meteor, arrive Winter Park 1227
Q455 SB Mixed, arrive Taft 1400
P098 NB Amtrak Silver Meteor, arrive Winter Park 1414
P052 NB Autotrain, depart Sanford 1600
P092 NS Amtrak Silver Star, arrive Winter Park 1941
Q456 NB Mixed, depart Taft 2000 (Q455 Power)
Q177 SB Intermodal, arrive Taft 2130
Q188 NB Intermodal, arrive Taft about 2130

TRAINS WITH VARIOUS SCHEDULES

OUCX COAL TRAINS N145 thru N183, times vary and keeps
same symbol SB loaded and NB empty.  N145-N147 are
from West Virginia, N148 is from Kentucky, N149 is from
West Virgignia, N150-N164 are from Kentucky,  N165 is
from West Virginia, N166 is from Bailey, PA, N167-N181
are from Kentucky, and N183 is from West Virginia.  Empty
coal trains generally return north about 12 hours after coming
south.

K928 SB Rinker Fly Ash loads, runs about once a
week, FCEN picks up most cars at Taft, remainder
go on to Rinker facility at Dyer/Rivera Beach. K929
NB empties usually runs a day or so later.

MIAMI ROCK TRAINS

In early 2007 some of the "K" trains were upgraded to "Q"
trains, new and old K symbols are reflected below on the ones
which have changed.  I.E. K940/941 is now Q790/791, K948/947 is
now Q788/787, etc.

Sun-Wed-Fri/Q790 NB rock loads, arrive Orlando 0830
Sun-Wed-Fri Q791 SB rock empties, depart Sanford 2030 (Q790 power)
Q790/791 are often finished out by extra crew A964, days and times for these
trains vary alot.

Tue-Thu-Fri-Sat Q788 NB rock loads arrive Taft 0800
Tue-Thu-Fri-Sat Q787 SB rock empties depart Taft 1900 (Q788 power)

OTHER ROCK TRAINS

K969 SB Rock Loads to Sanford, as needed.  Often runs
thru to Kaley Yard.  K968 NB empties usually run a day
or so after K969.  

Others also run on an irregular basis such as K975/K976,  K981/K982, K791/K792, etc. Extra crew A964 sometimes finishes trains that the crews ran out of time, not just rock trains, and will usually call themsleves A964 making it hard to determine which train it is.  Rock trains run on an irregular schedule.

LOCALS

There are numerous locals on the CSX Sanford Sub between Jacksonville
and Tampa, for details on locals CLICK HERE  Some of the Orlando area
locals are:  Sanford Switcher A766 and A764 as well asTaft Switchers A775 A776 A777 A779 A784 A786 A788, and  A798. Some of these locals work the yard
at Taft while others work in the general area switching out industries. A964 is
a common relief crew finishing out "outlawed" trains whose crews ran out of time.

 Other trains include extras, second sections of unusually long trains, re-routes from the "S Line," James E Strates Carnival trains, Ringling Brothers Barnum and Baily (RBBX) Circus trains, Tropicana Orange Juice trains (K650, K652, R650 R652, etc) as well as others.
