Welcome to Don Troy's Hot Shots Collectors Card Information SiteThis site has been created to serve as an information source for Collectors and Dealers of Hot Shots Cards, in parallel with my Playboy Card Collectors site. That site has a link at left. If you are looking for pictures of naked women, there are better places on the net to find them. There are one or two pictures of naked women on this site but they are airbrushed. If you are under 18, please exit. If you are under 18 there are no Hot Shots cards you can legally own, so this site will do you no good. On this site, you will find notes and statistical information on Hot Shots Cards issued by D B Cardiff Card Company from 1992 to 2001, including the Millenium edition release in January 2001, which is the last Hot Shots edition to date. (Keep checking back, there is information that Hot Shots is considering releasing another edition). I have made every effort possible to be complete, within the intent of the website--that is to provide information for collectors and dealers about what kind of Hot Shots material was released. There are many more unique or close to unique items available for Hot Shots than for Playboy, the intent here is to list material that a collector may choose to pursue. I have also included two sets which are not issued by Cardiff for the sake of completeness and reference. Tracking down and classifying Hot Shots Cards is a bit more difficult than working with Playboy cards, since Hot Shots sets vary in size and artwork, and were released in at least three different ways. Cards went to dealers, to the Hot Shots Collectors clubs, and to distributors like Diamond and Card World. Cards were solicited in different ways, and were eventually dumped in the Chronicles release. How to use the site: Each of the links at left will take you to a web page describing the card edition in the title. I have also provided a link to the Playboy Site for those who might want it. R Cards (Penthouse cards) are in a sub-site. If you don't see the set you are looking for listed in the site menu at left, e-mail me and I'll try to help. Hot Shots released cards at fairly regular intervals beginning in 1992. I have made educated guesses about release dates, since promotional material for releases may not be accurate, as sets were delayed for various reasons. I have cross-referenced promotional material with ads in ACCQ and Paul and Judys catalogs, but I figure the release dates I have are accurate to within 3 months or so. Is Hot Shots still in business?--Maybe yes, maybe no. Dormant is probably a good word for the situation. Hot Shots surprised everyone by releasing another edition in January, 2001 (The Millenium editon), see the Millenium webpage. As mentioned above, Brian Cardiff has mentioned to me that he is considering releasing another edition, possibly in late 2004. Comments or questions about the site or its content should be directed to me at dtroy10610@aol.com---Check out Special editions, promo and phone cards if you do not see what you are looking for or e-mail me and I'll try to help. Acknowledgements: One of the true pleasures of putting a site like this together is the opportunity to discuss cards and card collections with others, particularly those who have the same level of commitment to the hobby that you do. In this regard, a collector in Australia who wishes to remain anonymous, Van Nightingale, and LLoyd Rabalais took the time to thoroughly review and point out errors or obscurities on the Hot Shots site. Thanks to each of them. You will find them mentioned in the webpages where they have provided information used on the site. If you have documented evidence of an error on this site or the Playboy site, I would appreciate your letting me know. While it is important to be complete putting together a card guide, it's more important to be correct. Disclaimer: The information contained here is as reliable as I can make it, it has been taken from many different places; primary sources were Hot Shots Collectors Club Promotional literature, the Adult Card Collectors Quarterly, Adult Previews Sales Flyers, the Lasting Images Price Guides; and in particular, my own card collection. I am not affiliated with D B Cardiff, Fred T. Murry, R Cards, Private Collections, or any other group that has issued trading cards. Information in brackets on any of the pages is unconfirmed and questionable. You will usually not find comments on card quality or pricing here, although I sometimes comment on rarity of cards or sets. Prices for cards change faster than I am willing to update the site, and the best source of pricing information is comparison between several recent dealers price lists, prices of recently completed web auctions, or contact me for a wild-assed guess on prices. So you want to buy a card? Most larger collectors wind up becoming dealers, I am one of them, most Hot Shots cards remain reasonably cheap and available in comparison to Playboy cards, but some boxes and chase cards are starting to get scarce. Certain Hot Shots chase cards, particularly Collectors Club sets and Transparencies, are near impossible to find. If you want to know about the Fred T. Murry Hot Shots set, use this link:The Fred T. Murray Hot Shots Card Set Links to other sites The following link will take you to another card site which has scans of most Hot Shots cards The Down Under Hot Shots Picture site YOU MUST BE 18 TO ACCESS THIS LINK and another Hot Shots information site: The Down Under Hot Shots Card Index. Legalese: I don't own the names of any of the card sets referred to on this site, nor do I make any claim to the words Hot Shots, any of the set titles, R Cards, D B Cardiff, or any other trademarked description used, and all descriptions are strictly for the information of the reader. Any opinions expressed are mine anlone. Readers may download and copy this file for their own use, but may not distribute the information contained here without permission. |
