Our reason for entering the wonderful world of Miniatures was our toddler daughter. We found them a safer alternative to the full size horses in our barn, and she can feel as though she has a part in our daily horse lives in a "scaled-down" fashion. We rarely show our miniatures due to our ApHC show schedule, but we enjoy raising at least one baby a year. There are probably a few of you out there wondering "what the heck do you do with a miniature horse?". Well, the most fun thing is to take a relaxing cart ride. Miniatures can pull at least 350 lbs, and all of ours offer a smooth ride. They also can compete in obstacle or trail classes in hand. Some competitors actually run an over-fences class with their miniature in hand. These are very athletic little creatures. Some of the larger miniatures can be ridden by small children...they even make saddles for them. And possibly the best thing a miniature has to offer is all the love of a large horse in a much smaller package. We welcome any questions or comments about our miniatures..they are a fascinating animal even to someone who has spent her life around their full-size counterparts!
Easter Creek Spec-tacular Sunday (affectionately known as "Twister") born 4/4/99
Our only 1999 foal arrived Easter morning right after a horrible tornado hit our tiny town the night before his birth. He was 19" when born. If you look closely, one of his markings resembles a tornado! You can see pics of him on our Updates page. "Easter Creek Spec-tacular Sunday" is known as "Twister" around the barn. He is a red and white pintaloosa with roaning over the hips. Scan down to see pics of his dam, and you can learn more about his pedigree on our Reference Sire page. Twister has become fast friends with Stormy...who you will read about below. We hope their relatonship "blossoms" as they get older and that they bless us with some more Spec-tacular babies!
(Stormy)
1998 grey appaloosa filly by Little America's Sesquicentennial Tex and out of a Bond mare 19" at birth...app-solutely not for sale! "Stormy" as she is affectionately known around the barn...is the premier boss of the pasture and is not afraid of horses that outweigh her by 1200 lbs......hence the name "Ostentatious Me". We feel if she were a human, she would be caught in nothing other than designer clothing and a $60,000.00 vehicle. When we are lucky, she stops to visit with us and usually has a complaint about the weather or her feed. She really feels as though she should have a bedroom in the house rather than a stall in the barn. Hopefully she will be this arrogant in the show ring...we have to admit it is what makes her so attractive!
