The combination of flute, clarinet and bassoon, a unique woodwind
ensemble, has repertoire dating back to the Classical period.
Parisian composers in the early
twentieth century particularly
to the genre; Americans and composers
from other countries
contributed thereafter. Works adapted from other instrumentations
complement the existing trio repertoire.
Eastwind Consort, a well-established Washington, D.C. trio, has
performed to critical acclaim throughout the Washington metropolitan
area, including radio broadcast and sold-out live concert appearances.
The members of Eastwind Consort are Sara
Stern ("Made one want to cheer!";
-New York Times), solo flutist with the 20th Century
Consort, James Bryla
("Bryla had it all; faultless intonation, superior musicianship
and virtuosic technique."
- The Washington Post), winner of numerous solo clarinet
competitions, including
the National Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist
Competition, and bassoonist
Eric Dircksen ("deftly and briskly passed over arpeggios"
- The Washington Post),
