ABOUT THE SITE

Authors can no longer sit in their lonely writer's garrets spinning tales.  Today you must not only be an artist, but you must also be businessman.

The purpose of this site is to provide a framework and a chronology to assist writers in promoting their e-books for kids and young adults.  Each section highlights a particular phase in the children's e-book promotion process, from gathering information and ideas (Research It) to creating anticipation for your book (Buzz It) to enhancing the techie side of your site (Tech It) to working with your peers to create large scale promotions (Work It.)

Children's E-book Promotion (CEP) also serves the very selfish purpose of helping me, your host, organize my own promotional efforts surrounding the March 2001 release of my YA historical horror novel, The Return.

You see, my book was accepted by Wordbeams last summer.  For the last eleven months I've been collecting potential promotional ideas and resources from mailing lists, newsletters, articles, where ever I could find them.  As I started organizing them in my notes file, I discovered two things:

  1. I had far too many resources to keep in a notes file.
  2. Many of the resources that sounded promising when I stored them didn't apply to YA or children's e-books.

So I'm using this site to organize and verify the resources I've gathered and generate new ideas with the participation of other children's and young adult authors.

Not all of the resources I've gathered are currently on the site (not by far!) but more will be added every week or two as I verify them as part of my own promotional efforts.  In this way I can bring some meaning to the links the site provides.

Although this should bring some additional relevance and quality to the resources we provide, inclusion in our site does not imply approval.  Sites change constantly, and although we check for broken links bi-weekly, we don't verify content bi-weekly.  If you find any errors or discrepancies, please don't hesitate to e-mail me with an update.  It's greatly appreciated, and it's really part of why we're here--the sharing of knowledge and ideas that will make our books, and e-books for children and teens in general, more successful.

Enjoy the site.  If you're interested in a more active exchange of promotional efforts, please join our ChildrensE-bookPromotion mailing list.
