The World Wide Web and modern software allows pretty much anyone to place all manner of information in front of the public. Some of it has remarkable virtue, some is revolting and evil, and some of it is just plain weird. Below you'll find a selection of sites that either are themselves weird or lead to sites of strangeness.
A huge assortment of strange and silly web pages. You can also search their site to find the page that meets your needs. Perhaps the premier site for this sort of thing.
A collection of web sites of kooks. Conspiracies, twit hate groups, quacks (who are noted as not being kooks as such), and more. Very nice looking site that also features some original artwork.
Lots and lots of conspiracy theories, people who watch conspiracy theorists, and so on.
The web site of the magazine that follows in the footsteps of Charles Fort.
A sort of "Who's Who" and "What's What" of Usenet. Helpful if you don't know who "Kibo" is or what the deal is with "Shub-Internet" and other odd stuff.
An assortment of strange and interesting links.
Can you guess what this one has links to?
A sort of "classic" that shows up at SF cons, where one must attempt to read it without laughing at the rather flawed prose.
Something for those who find the more familiar "Happy Birthday" too cheery. Might be good for fantasy RPGs. It's on a site featuring assorted SCA filks.
This site is dedicated to the Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota, residing in Darwin Minnesota. Really. There's pictures, a Real Audio rendition of Weird Al's song about the twine ball, and even Quicktime mov's of it. And it's on the Twine Ball Web Ring.
A site I found on the Twine Web Ring. An assortment of things, many unusual, including the contenders for "World's Biggest Ball of Twine". Check out the "photos" section, in particular.
The WWW has more cool things than one can shake a stick at, if one should be so inclined. Here's a few places I've found useful or interesting or have free stuff to get.
Nasa. Yup, the folk who sent a man to the Moon and robots to Mars have a web site filled with stuff.
Nonags has lots and lots of Freeware and "no nagged" Shareware. I've got a lot of stuff off them. Software is rated in rubber duckies.
The picture sort of tells it all; a whole lot of software for 16 and 32 bit Windows and for DOS and Mac and even OS/2. Some stuff is a bit old (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and there's sometimes more than one version of a given program. It also has some images.
Assorted free games for DOS and Windows.
A whole lot of software for Windows and Mac. Well organized with ratings for the programs.
Freeware32 has a lot of rated 32 bit Freeware and Shareware Windows programs, plus helpful hints. Rather nice.
One of the grand things one can do with modern technology is turn a $2000 computer into a $20 radio. Among other things, this site has a lot of online sound and radio links.
Your $2000 Intel powered radio can go to this site and listen to a lot of old radio shows.
An awful lot of online stuff you can listen to; too much to list here.
To use your 'puter as a radio, you'll need some software from RealAudio.
A grand site full of news and rumor and stuff about movies and TV. You really should visit it.
A page dedicated to those television shows that just didn't quite make it. Lots of shows that you may have forgotten ever existed.
A site with a lot of stuff about hackers and their lingo. Not just what is commonly thought as a "hacker", but those folk who do wild and bizarre things with computers and other technological stuff. One will get a clear vision at this site.
More stuff to come....
