International Solidarity Movement - Seattle
Palestine
Solidarity Committee is the local representative of the International
Solidarity Movement to End the Occupation (ISM), a Palestinian-led movement
which asks internationals to come to the Occupied Territories and join
in nonviolent resistance to the military occupation. As U.S. citizens,
we are deeply complicit in the ongoing human rights abuse of Israel's
military occupation, and ISM gives a unique opportunity to share some
of our privilege of safety with Palestinians and enable their nonviolent
resistance.

"This
happens every day there, every day. That same day, there were 12 houses
demolished, which equates to about 30-40 families without a home. And
there's no one to help them or to stop this, and we're paying for it..."
- Molly McClain - Rafah, Dec. 26, 2002
"Assem,
a high school counselor, spoke to the soldiers: 'Tell me, human to
human, what is the solution? Our village is cut off; our people are hungry,
our animals are starving, we cannot get to our jobs, or to the hospital.
What's the solution?'" - Linda Bevis -
Nablus, Dec. 28, 2002
IF YOU'RE
INTERESTED IN GOING to the Occupied Territories and joining nonviolent
resistance and protection with ISM, AND if you're from the Seattle area
or the Pacific Northwest region:
-- Contact
us for information -- palestinejustice@aol.com
-- Come to an ISM Discussion Cafe, the first Wednesday of every month, 5-8 PM, at the B&O Espresso, corner of Olive and Belmont on Capitol Hill. Informal conversations with local people who have worked with ISM in the Occupied Territories.
-- ADVANCE TRAINING IS IMPORTANT as a complement to the training you will
receive when you arrive in the Occupied Territories. We hold local training
sessions in Seattle before each regular campaign. If you are going at
a time when we aren't offering a regular session, we can usually arrange
for you to meet with some of the trainers for some orientation.
-- We have limited funds for partial scholarships for NW folks who want
to go. Please ask!
