Update 9/2/03

Please send your money in today if you are planning to attend the 25th reunion we are getting down to the wire and need to get a firm count on attendees. We are not mailing out invitations, so send your money in today for the time of your life.

The cost for the Pigskin Pre-game Party Tickets Adults $8.00 and Children $5.00. You do not have to pay to attend the pre-game party it is free.

At half-time of the game the stadium will be named for Fred Lewis, who retired in the middle of our junior year. He was the first principal of East Forsyth High School. And the field will be named for Carl "Ace" Clark and Perry Pearson. Mr. Clark was the first football coach and Mr. Pearson was the winningest coach in East's history. ( He was the coach while we were there.) I am sure that this activity has been planned to capitialize on our reunion attendance since all of these honorees were part of the "Class of 78". Our class may be asked to come down on the field to serve as a backdrop for this ceremony. Come support these special friends of your class.

Update 8/3/03:

 Please send your money in as soon as you determine you will be able to attend. So we can begin to finalize the amount of food we order and make other arrangements. The more accurate our count the better job we can do in planning the reunion. Last time we ran out of food because we had 35 people pay at the door and 17 pay in the last week before the reunion. If everyone waits to send the check in the week of September 1 then we will not be able to forecast the amount of food needed and there is nothing I hate more than running out of food. So please help us out and send your check today.

We did not receive enough pictures to make the video possible. But if you find pictures please send them in as maybe we can get enough to produce a video for the next reunion.

The Booster Club Pigpicking on Friday night Sept 26 before the West football game is on. So come join us the night before the reunion for some fellowship and good food. We will have a pre-game gathering place and a reserved area in the stadium for our class.

REUNION NEWS ALERT:

The reunion committee is considering producing a video of old pictures and funny stories which would be distributed to all reunion attendees FOR NO ADDITIONAL COST IF PAYMENT IN FULL is received by SEPTEMBER 1, 2003. A decision on whether to proceed with this project will be made based on the pictures and funny stories received by JULY 18, 2003. This project requires the receipt by the committee of at least 150 pictures and/ or funny stories from High School (highly preferred simply for entertainment value) or past Reunions by JULY 18, 2003. If enough pictures are not received then we will be unable to produce the video. Please send all pictures to: EFHS 1978 Reunion PO Box 311 Kernersville, NC 27285 by the above date for consideration ( you can send the pictures/funny stories and payment in the same envelop). All pictures received will be returned if you write your name and address on the back of the picture. Please identify whether the picture is from High School or identify the previous reunion.

The pictures used will be at the discretion of the committee but every effort will be made to include as much diversity as possible. Although the only way diversity can be assured is by receiving diverse participation from class members.

Example of a funny story:

One day in math class Mrs. Griffin: Blurted out to the wake up the class "Karr, Karr (Jim Karr) get that Hopper Grass off my desk".

On a late Spring day during the Sectional Tennis Tournament during math class Mrs. Griffin sent me (Jack Rayfield) to the office with the following lecture commenting on the length of my tennis shorts: "Rayfields you go to the office right now. Those shorts are so short you can see all that you want to see."

One more fond memory is also from Math class how many times did you hear Mrs. Griffin say " disser times dater equal or turn the pager class".

I am sure that all of you have similar stories and it would be a great keepsake to share them in a lasting format with your classmates. This project will take alot of effort on the part of the commitee ( primarily Carolyn (Yeager) Hall ) but she has volunteered to do it, we think it would be worth the effort, all you have to do is provide the pictures and funny stories we will do the rest.

Remember a decision to proceed or bag this project will be made on JULY 18, 2003 so mail your pictures, stories (email) and a check today.

Class of 1978- 25 Year Reunion

ACTIVITIES:

Family Friday - Sept. 26, 2003

Football game at East vs. West Forsyth    Game time 7:30 p.m.

Social time before the game beginning at 5:30

There is a pigpicking before game sponsored by the EFHS Athletic Booster Club as there was at the 20-year reunion. We will have a pre-game gathering place and a reserved area in the stadium for our class. Gate admission is $5.00 for the game. The barbecue will be approximately $7.00. We filled an entire section last time.

Let's pack it again! GO EAGLES!!!!!!

Semi-formal Saturday night - Sept. 27, 2003 Adam's Mark Hotel, downtown W-S  7:00 p.m. - midnight

DJ with karaoke

Plan to come and enjoy an evening with heavy hors d'oeuvres, dancing and lots of "catching up" with classmates. We chose the "Mark Ballroom" (West Tower) which also has a large foyer away from the music for quieter socializing!

The price is $30 per person (same as last time!) There will be a cash bar available. Hotel rooms are also available.

Ask for a room in the West Tower.
