Mousey almost could not believe it, but this is the pyramid of Teti I, which in Teti's time was known as "The Places of Teti Endure." Teti was the first king of the 6th Dynasty of KMT's Old Kingdom.
When it was built, Teti's pyramid measured 258 feet on each side and was 172 feet high (compare that to the size of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, built 175 to 200 years earlier, which is 756 feet on each side and 481 feet high). The angle of the walls was a little under 54 degrees.
Like most pyramids, Teti's was originally covered with a smooth outer casing of white limestone. Some of these outer stones still exist on the east side of the pyramid (outside of this picture), but most are gone. Without the outer stones, the inside core of the pyramid fell into its present ruin. In this picture you can see the stones and debris fill that were used to build the inside of the pyramid. Thankfully, the inside of the pyramid is still intact and Mousey went in to take a look.
