This was a very popular game when I was young. Somebody writes (or borrows) a short story or essay and then deletes a handful of words including nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and verbs. Without telling the players what the story is about, or what words were deleted, the author asks for words to replace each of the deleted ones, but the players are told only the part of speech that the word needs to be. The story ends up nonsensical (usually), but if players get the parts of speech right, it is, at least, grammatical, for the most part. |

You can play right here. Select a game, and you will be taken to the fill-in page where you will be asked to dream up various words of given parts of speech. Once you are finished, you click the submit button. Then, if you have nothing better to do, go to the Contributors' Page. You will then see the original writing first (the way it was supposed to be originally), and then the versions that have been "contributed" by players like you. YOUR results will be posted last, at the bottom of the Contributors' Page. |
