MACROSS PLUS

Of course, EVERYBODY who's post-pubescent knows what Robotech is, the anime that stormed the U.S. in the mid 80's and re-vitalized the anime market in the U.S. But what they DON'T know is that Robotech was the original Macross series renamed. Macross Plus, the highest budgeted OVA to this date, is essentially a drama focusing on its characters but, keeping true to its namesake, also includes lots of mecha and action.

In 2040 A.D. on the colonial planet of Eden, the Ministry of Defense is testing two new transforming jets (Valkyries) for mass production under the codename: Project Supernova. It's a battle between the YF-19 design team and the YF-21 model team (General Galaxy) for the funding of the Macross Government.

Isamu Dyson is a hot-headed, compulsive, reckless fighter pilot on his way to being transfered from the battlefield for reckless behavior and disobeying orders. After finding out about his transfer, he storms into his commanding officer's office for an explanation. He discovers that he is being transfered from the field to become a test pilot on Eden and leaves quite cheerful. He meets up with his old high school buddies on planet Eden, where they all grew up.

Guld Goa Bowman is a hardboiled, drug addicted, emotionally disturbed man who lives for his job as a test pilot. Formerly the best friend of Isamu, he now has a few "accidents" which almost kill Dyson. He is in competition with Isamu in Project SuperNova and for the love of their old high school sweet-heart, Myung.

Myung Fon Lone is the producer of the galaxy's number one celebrity, Sharon Apple. She is a distant woman who still suffers from the event which tore the three's friendship apart. She knows she is the prize that Guld and Isamu are after, and loves them both dearly, but doesn't know which one to choose. She is brought to Eden by her career as Sharon's producer.

Sharon Apple, galaxy's number one rock star, is a virtuoid idol. She is completely generated by computer. A perfect artificial intelligence system in all senses, lacking only an emotional program.
