                 Subject: my impressions

/me pokes himself to make sure he still exists.  yup.

it really did happen, didn't it?

I remember when it was announced and when the auction started, I was thinking
"Heh, like I'd ever be able to do this."

Dreams really do come true, and I think there are very few people who have had
experiences that can even come close to what we all took part in on Sunday.
It wasn't just about seeing Moxy Früvous.  It was about being with friends,
and seeing the force that created all these friendships.  Without Moxy
Früvous, I would have most likely never met any of you.

As far as the event itself, I thought it was amazing that 5 out of the 6
"VIPs" stuck around for the duration, hanging out, playing video games, and
just... being regular people like the rest of us.  Part of what I love about
this band is that they are unpretentious and down to earth.  They aren't rock
stars, and don't act like rock stars.

I thought the format of the show was wonderful.  I think that even if people
had requested songs like Michigan Militia[1] and King of Spain[2] (or any
other song we've all heard a lot) we would have loved it, simply because of
                 the method.

I feel kind of weird having been picked on before the first name was drawn,
and then drawn three times anyway.  But I'm sure it was a coincidence.  (if
I'd been picked a fourth time I probably would have just been selfish and
requested Follow the Road or something :)

I talked to all of them about many things, some Früvous related, some not...
(Mike and I discussed the Nields' new album quite a bit... and I talked to
Dave about how to improvise guitar solos on the fly :)  I also learned that
Mike thinks and speaks in Boo Time scat quite a lot.

Thank you, Lori, for hosting this event, and thank you to all the Fruheads[3]
whose gears started turning the minute this was announced.  There aren't many
bands that would do something like this, and we're lucky to be fans of one
                 that did.

See some of you at some upcoming shows... Clearwater... Pittsburgh...
                 hopefully Falcon Ridge... Frucon 4...

I find my .sig an appropriate way to end this message.

[1] but the banjo was buzzing nastily, so I'm glad that didn't happen. :)
[2] actually, I think KoS would have been very amusing, in a way
[3] Thank you, India; Thank you, Lori; Thank you Früheads, who can share this
                 story...
