ARROW: The Freshmen deal with the fallout of their first major battle!
The team deals with the spectacular loss they suffered at the hands of the super-powered frat guys. Also: The Intoxicator experiments with new forms of...uhm... intoxication! The Beaver ponders his predilection for dam building!  Wannabe struggles to maintain his dubious team leadership, and the kids discover the dark secret of Doctor Tomlinson and the frat guys' powers. This special issue is told in two concurrent storylines that will make you laugh, cry and want to see Cats just to compare.
Co-created by Austin Powers and Buffy star Seth Green and written by universe-mastering Hugh Sterbakov.
Full color   32 pages   $2.99   part four of a six-part mini-series

Issue #4 is told in a format different from the other Freshmen installments. There are two concurrent storylines running side-by-side on each page. One story is a strip running down the outside of the pages, and takes place solely in the study lounge with Elwood, Brady and the Beaver. The other, main storyline, moves around and follows the other characters. This is Hugh's drawing breakdown of the first issue, done to show editor Jim McLaughlin what he was trying to describe, compared with the final colored page. The numbers correspond to word balloons and captions, which haven't been placed in the final yet.

Script Snippet

THE BEAVER, BRADY AND ELWOOD IN THE STUDY LOUNGE

They're getting Elwood (The Intoxicator) high for the first time in his life, testing out his powers.

ELWOOD

What time is it in Budapest--

This balloon should overlap the one above, interrupting it:

THE BEAVER

You see-- the thing is-- I mean... I don't know.  I encounter free-flowing water--

these massive, never ending currents, be they rivers or streams-- and I

just have this intense desire to stop them.  I mean-- I have to build that dam.

It's a monomania, quite frankly.

ELWOOD

Monowhatia?

BRADY

Megamania?  That old Atari game?  Yo, datt s=t was da bomb.

You guys remember Circus Atari?

ELWOOD

I had that game! It used the paddles! Remember that goofy sound it made?

ELWOOD and BRADY

DONK! DONK! DONK DONK DONK!

THE BEAVER

What in all the grand design are you two babbling about?

Special Thanks to Jason Reese for help with Japanese translations for this issue.

(Bonsai Trees need translators too, y'know.)
